El Quinze Castelldefels

I was staying in Castelldefels and due to leave for the airport so I ventured out walking on a sunny but cool Sunday morning. In need of coffee but not wanting have a hotel breakfast, I searched for a cafe to stop in. Everything was closed except for a churro stand which wasn 't my idea of a place for my last breakfast in Spain. I sat at the counter of El Quinze and ordered a double espresso. I sensed this was not an ordinary restaurant when the owner asked how I wanted my double espresso, with the same amount of water as a single, i.e., extra strong or the equivalent of two espressos. At a side table a well heeled couple was having a leisurely breakfast with a bottle of rose in a bucket and fresh flowers on the table as on all the tables. An elderly woman, a regular patron addressed by name by the female owner, asked for a sandwich and the owner asked what kind of filling the lady wanted. After a discussion of possibilities, the lady placed her order and the owner instructed the cook to make a particular sandwich. I decided to have breakfast at a table myself so I sat down and asked about omlettes. I asked for a French tortilla (omelette) not a Spanish omelette with potatoes with red peppers which they could make. I was served a perfectly tender well made omelette with the best bread I had had in Spain and I decided to order a glass of the house rioja recommended by the owner. The rioja was excellent as was the food so I ordered an excellent flan and another very good double espresso, paid the reasonably priced bill and left feeling well fed and served in a very local, non-touristy ambience, my last impression of Spain before flying to New York a few hours later.

In winter, the restaurant is rather a tight squeeze, in summer you can eat out on the pavement/in the road. The service is good, the food too,so you will not regret eating here, but I would grade this restaurant as average as I think the prices are a little over the top for what you get..

I stopped in this restaurant for the menu of the day. But as I was alone they were not prepared to serve this for me. For the menu of the day you had to be at least with two... Reason to leave this restaurant immediately. Feeling very discriminised being alone

Lo encontramos tarde y de casualidad y nos atendieron muy bien trato excelente y comida riquísima paella y tartar de salmón todo perfecto

Buen servicio dejate recomendar , buena comida y buen precio, te sorprenderás y seguro repites si vas por la zona otra vez !!!
