Hosteria Del Vapore

If you are ever traveling around the Bergamo region you must pay a visit to Carobbio degli Angeli and eat at the Hosteria Del Vapore which I found while traveling on business ,Tucked away in the old town with lots of history,here you will be treated to a warm welcome by the Berzi family into their wonderful and intriguing restaurant ,with an amazing wine cellar with a few hundred different wines many local and some of the best and very individually created Italian food I have eaten, the vegetable dishes are superb and nothing is to much trouble here ! and being of Italian decent I love good food so I can assure you here you will find some of the best !! We happened upon Hosteria del Vapore and came away charmed not only by the place situated in and above an ancient wine cellar that's been in the family for generations but also by the family atmosphere. We had a special request for a vegetarian meal and the proprieters took care to create a delicious and satisfying menu that included a range of spectacular local cheeses. The Hosteria del Vapore was recently refurbished and has outfitted itself for gatherings large and small; we ate in the garden but were then given a tour of the indoor dining rooms that included large wood burning stoves for winter and a glassed off smoking room for that post dinner cigar. We were staying in this area for one week and visited this restaurant on our first night and enjoyed it so much returned for our last night. It was a perfect end to a great holiday and we loved everything about this establishment. The atmosphere, the food, local wine and Stefano our host along with his family were very welcoming and truly made it an excellent experience to remember . Go to the Hosteria Del Vapore and Enjoy you will LOVE it.
