Bidra med feedbackGiven that this place is so compact, we were impressed at the quality and range of food and the menu.We went with family and friends and sat outside (the road side can be busy). We had some lovely wines from the region and ate the foie, magret de canard, excellent burgers, red mullet, confit and steak. All dishes were excellent and prepared to our requests, medium, rare etc. The servings are generous so we couldn't our main courses. Pleasant and charming staff too. I would advise you book ahead in the summer months for dinner, especially on Tuesday, market day, as it's not a big place.
This place looked quaint and lovely and we thought we would have some lunch here. Not very friendly or welcoming people who work/own it. Not that busy and took ages to take out order. I was hoping for a lovely bit of French food cooked well. Disappointed.
We visited on a rainy night in November where this was the only restsurant open. The welcome was warm and the food excellent. Pleasant service and good menu choice. No complaints whatsoever, and would certsinly recommend this place as a great option if in Carennac.
My wife and I ate here twice during a five day stay in Carennac. Once for lunch where our croques monsieurs and salad were excellent, and once for dinner where we enjoyed tasty steak, pork ribs, salad and baked potatoes. For dinner we sat at one of the three tables on the terasse with a gorgeous view over the river Dordogne. The proprietors made us feel welcome and the service was efficient. We would be very happy to return.
This clean establishment was a joy to eat at. On a tour through the area, my guide and I had lunch here and the menu was simple but the food was delicious and the decor was friendly. Not expensive! I had the croque-monsieur (my first in France!) and my guide had the filled waffle (cheese, walnuts, bacon--really filling!). They had toilet facilities and on good days you could sit out on the back balcony overlooking the river. I liked the place a lot, it was rustic but well-laid out and cosy and the proprietors were quite friendly. Casual, sit-down service or you could take out if you so desired. They had a great choice of gelato for dessert! I will remember this place always due to an interesting encounter with an old man and his baby fox. As we were eating, the old man came in and went out back with the owner for a smoke on the balcony (no one was out there, it was a little rainy/damp at the time). I noticed some movement and when I peered closer, I could see that the old man had a baby fox in his hands! My guide Marion and I bolted to the door to get a closer look and the other guests came out too (the old man said he rescued the pup from the roadside; it was in danger of being run over). What a memorable lunch! And the food was perfect. My sandwich and a cola came to about 10euros or less.
