Bidra med feedbackSimon and Allison go out of their way, with their staff team, to make you feel welcomed and looked after. Ruthie is a pleasure to see at breakfast her smile and humour settles the hangover and you feel cared for x rooms clean and have everything you need. Until the next time thank you
Excellent budget hotel. Staff is very friendly and professional. Location is amazing. Cleanless is very good. Yes, rooms are old, but i did not mind-i spent minimal time in the room. Recommended to everybody who want central location, friendly staff, and that will basically use room only for sleeping and shover.
I stayed here for a weekend with a group of friends. There wasn 't any food available but that was not a problem as there are plenty of places nearby. I can only comment, therefore, on the accommodation. Pros: The hotel is in a great central location. Although it can get quite rowdy in St Mary Street on the weekends, my room was quiet and any noise from the surrounding area did not bother me. The cost of the 2 night stay was good value and appropriate for a budget hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. Alison who was on the desk was delightful! Cons: The entrance to the hotel is basic. You have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the reception area and there is no lift to any of the floors. This didn 't bother me but if you have mobility issues it wouldn 't be suitable or if you are carrying a lot of heavy luggage it could be difficult. First impression was that the hotel is basic and budget. When I entered my allocated room I was dismayed! It was tired, run down and unpleasant (beware of room 112). It was clean to an extent but to coin a phrase 'you can 't make a silk purse out of sow 's ear '. From talking to others in my group, I don 't think some of the other rooms were quite as bad as mine. I 'm particular about where I stay and I felt uncomfortable in the room. I did ask to change rooms but there were no others available. I understand that the owners of the hotel are targeting a budget market but in my humble opinion the hotel needs some updating and investment. Because the location is so amazing, it would make a fabulous boutique hotel! Would I stay there again no but I guess it would suit others. I suppose you get what you pay for... Apologies to the owners if this review seems harsh but it is just my experience. All in all though we did have a great weekend in Cardiff.
This fitted the bill perfectly for what I needed. An ultra convenient spot, I was housed at the side of the building overlooking Wharton Street. It was completely quiet, despite its central location. The booking process was straightforward and efficient, and everything went smoothly, staff being exceptionally pleasant and helpful throughout. It was useful to be able to leave baggage at reception for a short period following checkout. Faciliites were very good, with a proper wooden writing desk and clothes storage area, complete with iron and ironing board, of which I made full use. There was a spacious bathroom, spotlessly clean all plumbing worked perfectly, which is not always the case elsewhere! Excellent easy to use shower which was a huge plus. I got decent night's sleep throughout my stay but found the mattress a little soft for my requirements, and had slight back ache by the end of the stay. Overall, with this as the only disappointment, I would certainly recomment to anyone wishing for simple, unpretentious accommodation in a handy location in Cardiff.
The hotel is an excellent choice for budget accommodation. I got an ensuite room for only GBP50 per night. It is often possible to get a room at an even lower rate. The room I stayed in was very warm and clean as well as being ensuite. The hotel is very centrally located, adjacent to an excellent market, Cardiff's main shopping district and Cardiff Castle, as well as being within easy walking distance from many other fascinating local attractions.
