Chicken and fries are of top quality and should rank highly among other worldly brands beginning with K, M or B, etc. in standard. We were on a bus group tour stopping for lunch break along this tourist street but perchance came across this place. The street number should read 108 and not 10 according to the pamphlet I got. Very eager to come again!
The chicken is dried. The chips are really good though. I bet they use poor chickens from small cages that are abused. Won't go there again.
A great place to get good fast food at a good price if your into chicken. The restaurant has very recently reopened after having a much needed re-fit and is now clean fresh and modern. They have taken the decision to lose the upstairs seating which in reflection is a good thing as it was hardly ever used. This has given room for more seating downstairs. The only downside is now that they have had a refit there is now no toilet. Staff are friendly and food is always hot with fries being cooked freshly. You can go large for 50p extra giving you a large fries and drink. They are currently awaiting a revisit to attain a higher hygiene score now the re-fit has been completed. Having eaten there numerous times both before and after the re-fit we have never had any issues of any type, so you should not let their current low score affect your choice to eat there. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we are looking forward to our next visit soon!
I ordered some chicken online only for my order to be cancelled after about 45 minutes that coincided with the ‘restaurants’ closing time. I had ordered through Just eat and was emailed to say that a refund would be in my account within the week. A month later still no refund. Just eat informed me to contact chicken cottage, I did. Chicken cottage told (rudely) me that they 150% do not and have never been on just eat and I was mistaken. Dumbfounded I hung up and re checked my emails. Nope. It was from just eat. I also re checked the just eat website and what do you know, chicken cottage was on there. I tried calling back but no one would answer the phone anymore. Hmm I wonder why? I re contacted just eat and they told me I had been refunded. I then sent them screenshots from my bank proving that, uh, no, I haven’t ‘could you please provide me with transaction information from the refund?’ They did not. They told me to contact my bank. I’ve never in my life been withheld a refund to my bank by my bank. Have you? Anyways. Steer clear. They’ll only chicken out of the cooking and the refunding, it’s not even like the chicken is that nice, there just wasn’t many places open. I’m highly disappointed and if you ask me I feel that there was some FOWL play going on here and the staff and restaurant didn’t seem to give one single cluck about my experience.
I ordered a children's meal at Chicken Cottage but received it as an adult. When I called to resolve the issue, the person on the other end hung up on me. When I called back and asked to speak to the boss, who I had spoken to earlier, he claimed he was not available. The resolution offered was for me to mention the mistake on my next order and they would provide the correct meal. Despite spending nearly £40, the portions of chips were very small. When I called back again, I overheard the man saying I was rude. All I wanted was the meal I paid for. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again. I am extremely disappointed, as I have been a loyal customer of Chicken Cottage for many years. The customer service needs to be improved. The boss even suggested I get a refund from Uber Eats, which left me unsatisfied.
