Bidra med feedbackWe enjoyed a lovely dinner here with some local friends. The service and food quality were very good and reasonably priced for fine dinning.
Our party of four came here for dinner on our last night in Cancun. After experiencing a week of so so restaurants with lack luster service, the Monroe Whiskey Bar was a refreshing and welcome experience. The menu is rather limited, but quality, flavour, and outstanding service more than make up for that shortcoming. Our waiter Fernando was the ultimate professional. He patently guided us through the menu options (menu is primarily Spanish) and explained the contents of each dish. He was timely, friendly and polite throughout the entire evening and made our dining experience all the more enjoyable everything a good waiter should be! For appetizers we ordered asparagus salad, cheese and sliced meat plate and breaded shrimp. Not only was the food fresh and delicious, but the portions were more than generous and we soon began to worry that we wouldn 't be able to finish the rest of our dinner when it arrived. The main course included burger and fries, blue cheese risotto and steak medallions. All were prepared fresh and delicious. The medallions were a very generous size served on a wooden plank and flanked with a bowl of roasted mini red potatoes on one side and a bowl of freshly grilled corn on the other. The steak was tender, juicy and seasoned just perfectly. I have to say it is the best I 've ever had in Mexico. Even though we were all satiated by the end of the meal, two of us decided to try the cheesecake stuffed ravioli for dessert. An amazing experience sweet cheese filling wrapped in a delightfully light and crisp coating. The perfect way to end our meal but be warned, the dessert is more than enough for one person so we wisely split one between us. All of the dishes appeared to be prepared from fresh ingredients and had a distinct Mexican flair that made for an incredible dining experience. We sat on comfortable upholstered chairs around a table on the outdoor terrace. The entire bar is spacious, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, which makes for a change from the loud, exaggerated and outrageous decor of most tourist spots in Cancun. The Monroe Whiskey Bar is a true jewel and we will definitely make it a must do on future trips to Cancun.
After a long journey driving around the Yucatan peninsula, my sister and I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant, and we 're so glad we did. The modern, elegant décor (very comfy indoor and outdoor patio seating , chill music (their sound system is very rich, yet not over powering , laid back, unassuming atmosphere and ambience is everything you would want in a restaurant, and more. Having both been sick for the past 36 hours with a bad bug, this was to be our first meal in almost 2 days (so our stomachs were still apprehensive . We were going to take the conservative approach and eat gently, but their appetizers swiftly provoked us in another direction. We ended up ordering the Camarones Fireball (breaded shrimp with an in house spicy mayo sauce , the Pulled Pork Sandwich (made with a special in house bourbon sauce , and the Blue Cheese Risotto con Jamón Serrano. All dishes were incredibly delicious, particularly the breaded shrimp (the BEST breaded shrimp I can EVER recall having in my LIFE SO fresh and perfectly balanced with the breading, not too much and not too little. WOW!! The risotto was exceptional as well (and we are Italian, so that speaks volumes !!! We also had several drinks including some artisanal beers (they have a great selection , and we tried one of their special mixed drinks made with a special reserve whisky, real cinnamon sticks, rosemary sprig, and limón simply sub lime !!! We ended the night with the Ravioles de Cheesecake (a home made ravioli shaped pastry filled with cheesecake , which we partially had to take home because we were stuffed by the end, but it was delicious. The value you get for your money here is incredible, as our total bill came to just under $900 pesos (about $58 CAD at the time of this review with tax and a well deserved, generous tip!!! Our server that night, Bryan (sp? , was outstanding, the consummate friendly professional, always attentive to our needs and easily the best service we received during our entire 2 week trip. Gracias Bryan to you and your fantastic team!! We will be back for sure the next time we are in the Maya Riviera!! :
