Bidra med feedbackChina garden is a high quality Chinese restaurant along the finchley road. even if it is in a bit dead part of the finchley road, there are always many customers in the restaurant. there is a pleasant, bright ambiente, and the venue is often decorated with white fairy lights. eating is something on the expensive side, but then again they pay for delicious well cooked dishes. I came here once for a birthday dinner with my parents and was not disappointed. we decide to share in the rule for a set menu or just a few dishes, like the Dim Summe Plate. the crispy shredded beef is also a favorite (kept); it is crispy as it should be, sweet and spicy, and in a charming...read more
To know a restaurant is to eat there. To really KNOW a restaurant is to strike up a relationship with its owner. I stopped by China Garden and ordered marinated jellyfish and ma lo tofu. The waitress took my order and this woman, the owner, came over to confirm my order, and I started to chuckle. She explained that not many people, non chinese, order these dishes, so I assured her that yes indeed i know what i am ordering and we both got a laugh. I go there now for traditional chinese dishes and even dim sum nice to know that the combination and variety of dishes are available. Later, I learned that this restaurant caters to the nearby Chinese Embassy so their menu can be quite...read more
Located near Swiss Cottage, on Finchley Road, I was initially excited to find a Chinese restaurant. Most times when I walked past it I would sight, however, only very modest crowd, if at all. But I love Chinese – one of those cuisines I can see myself eating everyday and some weeks, actually achieve that as well; so I did end up trying it. The day we visited, they had a huge group of expats who seemed to enjoy the meal greatly and loudly, if I may add! My experience with China Garden has been a bit puzzling though – I am not exactly put off but am far from having gotten excited. This is what we ordered for two: • CHINA GARDEN MIX HOR D’OEUVRES £3.80 which is basically 2...read more
From my account, it's clear that I really enjoy Chinese cuisine, and I don't mind dining at any restaurant that serves it! However, I've noticed that most Chinese restaurants offer discounts as part of their service, and China Garden is no exception. When we sat down, we called over one of the staff to place our order. We were eager to start with the prawn dumplings, but the initial interaction felt a bit off. The server bluntly asked if we wanted to order drinks, which didn’t feel very welcoming. Nevertheless, we decided to go with jasmine tea to comply with their request. For appetizers, we ordered prawns, satay skewers, and deep-fried salt chicken...
The food is good, the atmosphere is pleasant and quiet, and the service is decent. While it's not spectacular, this restaurant is definitely an improvement over your average Chinese eatery. I often order seafood or fish accompanied by steamed rice, and their aromatic crispy chicken is excellent too. For dessert, I highly recommend the toasted apples; they are absolutely delightful.
