Bidra med feedbackAfter a long day at work, the idea of returning to a cozy hotel with a conveniently located, unexpectedly delicious restaurant is a welcome thought. Dining at Brasserie Centrale was exactly that. I enjoyed a fantastic pasta dish and a refreshing, perfectly balanced salad. A local draft beer capped off the evening perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The food at this restaurant is expensive and not of good quality, with inconsistent options. The menu seems to vary depending on the chef working that day, leading to different sauces or ingredients for the same dish. For instance, when I ordered the Pasta with vegetables, it was not good and I was told it was because the Indian chef was off that day and the European chef couldn't make Pasta. I even offered to make it myself in the kitchen. It seems like the restaurant has one menu but changes names throughout the week, switching between Zaike, Chats, and Brasserie.
I decided to give the restaurant a chance despite reading previous reviews while staying at the hotel. It was a mistake. I ordered the most expensive steak cooked medium rare, but it came out well done and thin. The staff was friendly and brought me a better one, but it still wasn't worth the £24. The breakfast buffet was also overpriced at £20 for a full English breakfast with overcooked eggs, greasy sausage, and dry black pudding. It's the only option if you're in a rush since there are no nearby restaurants. The staff was nice, but the food was disappointing and expensive.
The service at this restaurant was attentive and discreet, but unfortunately, the quality of the food was subpar. The starter did not come with the menu's promised baguette and the mussels were overcooked. The main dishes consisted of a mix of hot meat and lukewarm vegetables. The only advantage of this place is that it is part of the hotel, but other Marriott hotels have better food options.
The Brasserie Centrale is beautifully decorated and conveniently located within the hotel. However, we found the prices to be quite high. Be sure to inquire at the hotel's front desk about any current specials. We were able to enjoy a discounted breakfast thanks to being members of the Marriott Rewards program.
