The Harvest - Cambridge

I've been to Harvest four or five times and every time I've gone, the food and service have been great. The chef has changed the menu before each time I've gone but I've never been disappointed with what I've gotten. The sides especially are well done and round out a great meal. This is one of my favorite restaurants.

My boyfriend and I tried Harvest a month ago-it was terrible. To start, the bread that was brought to our table had a ROACH in it. It was crawling all over the flat bread pieces in the basket. When the waiter was called over to address the issue, he did nothing but replace the bread. Seriously? Reluctantly, we stayed for the remainder of the meal which was mediocre at best. Our server disappeared for the rest of the time we seated and we were completely neglected. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere, Harvest is horrible.

My wife and I returned (are we gluttons for punishment? after having a bad meal with really snooty service, about 1 yr ago. We thought, perhaps they have seen the light and fixed the problems. Well, it 's as bad as ever. The wait staff is still snooty and, at the same time, ignorant of the wine list. The maitre D ' does not seem to respect the reservation list, putting us in a bad table when he explicitly promised a great table where we specified. The food was over spiced, and the port was not fresh. The salad was wilted, and we left before dessert, having had enough of this place. Without a total change in management and menu, this classic place is doomed to the dump the sooner the better.

I agree with the NEVER AGAIN reviewer. The steak was done right, but the sauce was sickening. The wine list is imporessive, but the Argentine wines are FAR too expensive. Worst of all, the staff was snooty, pointing their noses to the ceiling. Cambridge has many other wonderful restaurants please take this one off your list of options, to avoid being disappointed.
