Bidra med feedbackWe chose Hakka’s for our wedding anniversary meal, as we wanted something special. We were very pleased with the whole experience. This is a high quality restaurant. Like other high quality restaurants, and in contrast with more mediocre ones, the ingredients are all fresh. This means that the range of what can be ordered depends on what has been bought in. As with other very good restaurants, what makes it first class is the quality of the dishes provided. We had the seafood salt and chilli platter for two to start, the best example of this dish we had ever had. This was followed by two exquisite seafood dishes (one scallop and one prawn), with an egg fried rice that made us realise that even this staple dish can be done better than one is used to.
Though severely hit by the crisis, Hakka Cambridge continues to be the best restaurant in town and one of the best in the United Kingdom. Delicious seafood and fish dishes. Very good quality/price. Enjoy it while it lasts.
We were invited to a unique experience in Cambridge UK a small, unassuming seafood restaurant. You would never imagine that behind this door, amid simple surroundings, would be such an elegant culinary artist. Our host called and pre ordered because this is a small restaurant with very high standards. It was like having a persona chef. He went and sourced the seafood personally, a Dorset blue lobster. As we are from Boston, we thought we know lobsters. We were wrong. Cooked to order, with garlic, spring onion, and a certain kind of chili spice, we have never tasted anything like it. My husband is from Sichuan, and *he* was impressed. We were also treated to black cod, again, perfectly textured, and a balancing of all the flavors. We also had green vegetables and rice. The unique thing os the chef/owner is a one man show. He goes to the fish market on the coast. He cooks. He waits tables himself. He does it all, with aplomb and efficiency. Do not be fooled by the location or the decor. This is extraordinary Chinese seafood cooked by a master. Rush to try this place.
This is my second time eating at Hakka and same as previous the food was perfect. The sizzling beef was a piece of steak, cooked medium rare so it melted in mouth with a tangy home sauce. Likewise the pork belly was just right. But most importantly, the seafood was the star of the show. I ate black cod for the first time here and again this week, it is an incredible fish, rich and unctuous, cooked simply with charred spring onions garlic and ginger the freshness of the fish speaks for itself. Likewise the prawns and lobster were perfect. The work ethic of the restaurateur who is chef, maitre d’ors, and owner is from a different generation. he talked about driving for hours to get the best local sourced fish and knew where all the produce came from. He runs a one man show that no one else could ever pull off. Top marks
Exceptional Chinese Seafood restaurant in Cambridge and in fact the entire UK! Fresh and authentic Asian style seafood and perfect for those who like spicy authentic taste seafood. Nice and friendly chef. Highly recommended! Book in advance to avoid disappointment !
