Bidra med feedbackDining at Cafe Belga was exceptional. The cozy ambiance set the perfect mood. The menu impressed with high-quality, creative dishes and is delicious. Service was impeccable, with knowledgeable staff and perfect pacing. We brought 4 kids and they were so patience and nice. Is not my first time here and it won't be the last. I always love to come back because of the staff . Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience!
We arrived at 11:15 with reservations for brunch. Things were pretty quiet but by 11:30 the place was very busy. The staff was courteous and efficient with the growing crowd and did a great job. The food was served promptly and was outstanding. The Mussels Mariniere were flavorful, well prepared and a very large portion. The quiche was light and a well balanced blend of flavors. We were delighted by both dishes. A Belgian Chocolate Croissant and coffee for dessert completed a great meal.
Really great, low-key brunch spot. They had an outdoor seating area that was lovely to sip hot tea and hot cocoa in during a rainy Saturday afternoon. Food was satisfying, though a bit pricey (but I guess that's normal these days). If I had to knitpick, it would be politeness level of the staff. For example, in preparing a table next to us, the staff member just shoved one of our chairs and my friend's belongings without a word. My friend would have gladly adjusted if asked to move a bit. Likewise, later in the meal, our server took the syrup from our table and gave it to the table next to us, also without a word. Didn't even ask if we were done using it. Otherwise, the service was fine.
As it was a beautiful day in DC even with a reservation Belga was packed! We were offered the alternative option of The Betsy. This is Belga's Alley outdoor upstairs off shoot. You get the same amazing food in a chicken centric chicken puns galore) locale. My group actually preferred this as it was much quieter than the main restaurant and not on the busy sidewalk of the barracks row and a more intimate space less tables). If you can get over the kitschy chicken puns decor if offered this option on your visit I would recommend this option over the main restaurant.
Lovely neighborhood Belgian menu, quiet, unassuming
