Bidra med feedbackWe planned to stop at Caltagirone to browse the ceramics on a drive from Agrigento to Catania. We pulled in at the top of the town around 2pm and most of the upper town was closed. We climbed down about 40 steps and in my best hight school Italian, I asked è aperto per pranzo? . Il Dito E la Luna was still open and was serving either a pasta or salad. We chose the pasta a simple sauce with fresh basil and cheese and we were satisfied. BTW, not that I was counting, but the restaurant is about 95 steps up from town :
Half way up the stairs is the place to stop and rest and refresh. An exquisite Mediterranean salad of fresh fresh lettuces tomato and orange topped with Siciliano olive oil and and dollop of lemon granite. Heavenly. Excellent service in all languages from a family of chefs and hospitable Sicilians. A highlight of our visit to pretty Caltagirone.
Fabulous room and great breakfast. Really good value and great family team. We really enjoyed our stay here. Disappointed with Caltagirone we found it quite dirty and not much to see. But that’s just our view
I die a unique place, managed by great professional friends in the industry.
