Viva - Caloundra

Yes, I know it's an RSL but we did expect a little more at Viva than what we got for the upmarket price. We had what looked like, commercially bought frozen then deep fried seafood. Our dinner was very ordinary bordering on tasteless. My seafood platter was 60% chips - I actually ordered my meal without chips, and my partner's "barramundi" was a thin slice of something, yes, most likely fish but was it really barra?If you are going to charge those prices the food needs to reflect the quality - in this case, it was nowhere near the mark.

Visited for lunch on Tuesday 2nd May. We went with friends for lunch and a catch up. The menu has changed since our last visit and they now have a variety of meals, some small serves or a regular size, prices reflect the actual size. Couldn't fault todays visit.

Visited for lunch on Friday 3rd March. We were sitting there enjoying our lunch when a staff member started dragging tables and chairs around the area where we were seated. When we pointed out that it was very noisy when we were trying to enjoy a quiet lunch all we got was back chat from the staff member. This was reported to Management and other than a token apology nothing else happened except the staff member was allowed to continue to make a noisy. If that is the way they treat guests then we will go elsewhere, such a pity as we have been members of the RSL for years and visit there regularly.

Visited for dinner on Friday 17th February. There has been an increase in meal prices and the meal sizes seemed smaller. We are members of RSL so get a discount with food and drink. Still a great venue and great place for people to enjoy themselves.

I don't usually write negatives, however this dinning experience needs to be told, the restaurant is not cheap, and needs to improve.We dined in Ocean to Plate restaurant last night, we had the pork belly with scallops, the pork belly was cooked like a dim sim, all dry and not at all tasty. The spring rolls were vert good.The men in our group had the barra which they said was very nice.I had the chicken with coconut risotto. The chicken I am sure was cooked yesterday and served today, it was sooooo dry.The service was very slow, so over all not a good night. Definately will not be rushing back and we are locals.
