We have been in Callantsoog from 19 to 21 July, hotel Het Zwaantje. The intention was to go until Sunday July 23, but due to the unexpected death of my mother that week, we wanted to call in the first instance if we could cancel it, but given no cancellation request. couldn 't, understandable in itself. So we went anyway, but unfortunately had to leave for home on Saturday around 5.45 am to attend the cremation. When checking in and paying the remaining amount in advance, I asked if they could accommodate us in any way. No, was the unfriendly reply. Or we would have had to drive back for another night, with the necessary travel time and costs. While this situation rarely or never occurs, it seems to me... I had brought the map with me, because I got the feeling that she (the owner..? just didn 't believe me. I didn 't even get a congratulations. I understand the business side of this, but just don 't understand the human side. While 'people ' said that this was a friendly family hotel, which was no longer my image. 'By grace ' we received 2 sparsely filled regular sandwiches, 2 eggs and a pack of drinks for the road and that was it. I found her unfriendly, uncomfortable in contact and lacking in empathy. Too bad, because the hotel itself was beautiful and within walking distance of everything, in terms of location, neat clean, I found the beds less nice too small too easy to move and not suitable 'for a happy in love couple '. Fridge was also not much, you could not put much in it. Furthermore, a kettle with tea, for example, would also have been nice. So I expected, in our circumstances, a little more understanding and this shows again how apparently an extra night weighs more than leaving a good impression with hotel visitors. Shame! Hotel Het Zwaantje is not recommended for people who smoke. No restaurant is incomprehensible in high summer. If you are an early riser, there is no coffee available until 08:00, which is a bad thing because there is no decent lobby where you can read a newspaper, for example.
