Bidra med feedbackCame here on Friday with the family after a trip to Costco. The kids were hungry so we thought buffet would be good. Plentiful parking. The place was busy which I guess is a good sign. It is quite big inside and we were seated promptly.<br/ <br/ There is a good selection of cooked items like dim sum, noodles, rice, western Chinese fare, Korean short ribs, various soups. There was a good selection of sushi rolls, salmon sushi and sashimi. Cold section had lots of selection of salad, pickles and such. In the front there was shrimp, scallops, lobster claw, mussels, clams, and escargot.<br/ <br/ For dessert, there was a candy bar with sours and assorted treats. Cakes, mouses and such lined one aisle. Lots of flavours of ice cream and one feature of pineapple whip our favourite.<br/ <br/ Service was great for the most part. They came by to take empty plates often. There was a couple of lulls where it took awhile to refill water but all in all it was good.<br/ <br/ Family was full by the end of it. Weekends are a bit more expensive then the rest of the week. We'd definitely come back.
After looking at some of the reviews that came before, I was hesitant on deciding to come. Being Christmas and coming thru Calgary on our home, my family wanted something filling, and the request were all over the place. We all decided to give this buffet a chance, as we wouldn't be back down for at least half a year or more, being non native to Calgary. So here is what we found.<br/ <br/ We came for a lunch buffet, and the selection was extensive. Most of the hot food was coming out fresh at frequent intervals. Restaurant itself was moderately busy with small families. They had 4 different types of maki, 3 sushi and 4 different rolls, which impressed me for a buffet that doesn't specialize in just sushi. Taste wise it was ok. Fish was fresh and sauces were flavourful.<br/ <br/ Again comparing it to other buffets. We were not coming into this restaurant expecting food tasting like a gourmet sushi house or authentic Chinese restaurant.<br/ <br/ Heading over to the Chinese section, only the teriyaki wonton and chicken ball were a little dry. Short rib were moist, fresh off the grill and very flavourful. The shrimp tampura, scallops and crab were moist and not over cooked which was a nice change. <br/ <br/ The general Tao chicken was very saucy with a nice spice, and stir fried noodles had a good flavour.<br/ <br/ All the hot food was hot, not cold, and considering we came at the tail end of lunch rush, I was expecting some of it to be a little cold. <br/ <br/ We avoided most of the cakes as they were not covered and looked a little dry, but cream puffs, macaroons, and cheesecake are always fair game. The chocolate fountain was a nice touch to. <br/ <br/ Our bill at the end of day would have been a cool $63 plus tax, but with a 20% discount came to $55 for 3 adults. <br/ <br/ Overall the restaurant met and exceeded my expectations of a buffet. Would I come out of my way to come here to eat? No. Would I come here if I was in town? Absolutely. <br/ <br/ I recommend this buffet if your hungry and want a nice selection and variety of food.
Decided to check out A+ sushi buffet to see what it all had to offer. The buffet was absolutely huge, with a range of difference options, from salad, stir fry, soups, and dessert. The price is quite high, since the buffet includes quite a substantial amount of food definitely come hungry. For sushi you order on a piece of paper, separate from the buffet. The sushi was great and I only had a few things from the buffet but was completely over full afterwards. Overall a pleasant experience. A bit deserted, but the food was quite good.
First, I must say the place is very elegant, spacious, well lit, and laid out...So I guess they have made some changes recently. The service was spot on. The place is an Asian Buffet with an AYCE sushi bar. Not a AYCE sushi bar only. I must say the Asian Buffet is one of the better ones in Calgary, the sushi is not bad at all but it's not a la carte quality, (obviously). We went right at 5pm so the food was as fresh as it gets. I'm not a very picky eater but for those that complain the food is cold, well it is a buffet where food sits on a heating tray for a while, grab from the bottom of the tray if you want warmer food and don't show up at closing time and expect fresh food. Now, originally the sushi was made to order via a menu, but because the wait was too long they changed to a buffet bar style, we however asked for the menu, placed an order and also grabbed from the bar as not all items are always available at the buffet bar. They do however rotate the variety often. All in all, this is my new favourite place for Asian Buffet, and the price reflects the variety and quality of sushi also available.
Very nice environment and excellent service. The food was slightly above average but honestly nothing special. I would not pay for their full price dinner, luckily they are having a dinner special 20% off. I must mention that they have a good variety of food as sushi.
