The Fox And Goose - Calderdale

This has been my family’s local for over 30 years and a favourite place to take friends when they visit. The redesign of the bar and beer garden are great and the good news was that the ladies and gents toilets were much improved! Unfortunately the decision was taken last year to turn both toilets into unisex provision, the result being women (possibly with young children) running the risk of walking into the ground floor toilet to find men using the urinals or queuing for the single toilet at the top of the stairs. We persevered under the new regime until Christmas when tiptoeing across the urine soaked floor in what had been the ladies proved too much and we stopped going in. I was encouraged by my other half to give it another try hopefully the management committee would have had a change of heart? Unfortunately not such a shame we’ll continue walking the extra distance into Hebden where single sex provision is available.

The Fox is the best pub in Hebden by a long way, with one of the best choices of drinks and a really friendly local crowd (I would say that though, as a regular... . It's small and cosy, so not ideal for large groups, although anyone and everyone is made welcome if there's room. Some of the older reviews on here cite issues with a bad smell I have to admit it did used to smell sometimes, quite a few years ago, but since having been taken over as a co operative venture and fully redecorated it has consistently been a clean, warm and welcoming place to drink. They've done a lot to their lovely beer garden to make extra room, which is a really nice place to sit and drink on a warm day, or even when raining, as it's partially covered! Price wise, it's very reasonable, one of if not the most reasonable pubs in Hebden, with well kept beer and delicious pies.

I’ve been here several times with family and friends and always had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly and the beers are great. Can highly recommend the outdoor seating area for a chat and a drink in a beautiful part of the country.

On our visit to Hebden Bridge, this was my favourite place. Community run, friendly staff, atmosphere, Covid safe, good prices, great beer selection, great pork pie- what's not to like? Glad we stumbled across it when we were exploring.

Popped into this pub spent all evening there. Such friendly nice bar staff Hugo April who really gave you time made it special.Had the vegan pasty pork pie- both the best we've ever had. Tried a few recommended gins which were lovely hubby had a few craft beers. We sat outside under the fairy lights warm heater which threw out alot of heat! Will return here for the great Yorkshire hospitality. :
