Le Boomerang - Calais

We stopped by this cafe basis TripAdvisor suggestion. Food is good enough (omelettes preferred), but the real gem are the people. Upon leaving, it turned out we had a flat tyre and the folks in the bar overcame our lousy French to help guide us to a garage literally around the corner. 30 minutes and 3 beers later and we were safely on our way.

We were staying at Calais BB hotel. This was the nearest restaurant. Friendly locals and staff. Food and wine very good value.

Hey Eeengliiish! Coming through Calais? Don't go to Mc s as you dash for the hypermarket and the ferry/tunnel, try this little place. There used to be cafes like this one on every corner in French cities. A few tables, a counter, a coffee machine, draught Kronembourg, and a simple but interesting bar food menu. it's proper French hospitality. In England In a place like this when you walk in all the locals turn and stare at you. At the Boomerang, all the locals turn and greet you warmly. The menu is available in English, and the daily specials are advertised on a board outside. We were absolutley stuffed and filled to the gills with coke for 23 euros for 2 of us. The bar an was friendly and welcoming, the tables. We're neat and clean. The toilets were basic but clean and tidy. All in all, a very good way to say farewell to France. I hope to pass by again one day
