Mr. Zhang's Karaoke House - Burnaby

My szechuan restaurant to go to in Burnaby. this restaurant is super good and I am super picky. boiled fish and intestine appetizer are my 2 favorite dishes. I even come here by myself. it's that good. price is very humble.

The plan tonight was actually to go to Xu's Wonton House but it turned out they were closed for renovations! I had heard about Mr. Zhang Karaoke and Restaurant also having decent xiao long bao, so we went there instead, the place being just downstairs and still in the Crystal Mall complex. On a Monday night it was pretty quiet, but there were still 2-3 tables occupied at any one time.

Very good Sichuan and North Eastern Chinese food. I am surprised that there aren't more positive reviews here. The Di San Xian is authentic and tasty, and the spicy lamb with cumin is wonderful, as are the dry green beans with garlic. We also tried the more standard (and safe) sweet and sour chicken and the ginger beef, and they passed with flying colours. Next time I want to try one of the cold soups, which are reputed to be good. Order the spicy, interesting dishes here, rather than XLB, dumplings, beef rolls, and you will be delighted. Order a pail of white rice with it. The service was friendly and quick, and we enjoyed a relaxing visit with our friends there. This is also a very family-friendly place. They take all credit cards, debit and cash too. Highly recommended and worth a drive out to the Crystal Mall in Burnaby.
