Salvatore's Of Oakville Italian Restaurant

There is a fairly new Salvatore's location on Lakeshore Rd in Burlington A friend and I had dinner there very recently.

Very disappointingI agree with the previous reviewMy husband and I go out for dinner 2 - 3 times per week and usually we stay in Oakville.

A quiet Tues night dinner with only 2 other tables. Service was ok and food was good to very good. Calamari Fritti - ok but a bit chewy. Veal with Lemon, White wine and capers was very good and presented beautifully on the plate. Spaghetti Bolognese was cooked perfectly but the sauce was all tomato and no meat.

We had dinner at Salvatores and found both the food and service to be excellent. Sheldon was our server. The restaurant was quiet being a Tuesday night, and we sat on the patio which is very nice. We found the prices to be average for a restaurant such as this and the wine prices were very good.

I took my friend to this restaurant for her birthday. It did scare me when I called for a reservation just a few hours earlier and they told me I didn't need a reservation on a Friday night since everywhere else was fully booked. The only explanation I can come up with is that people must not know about it.We ordered the bruschetta with pancetta and it was delicious. For $2.75 each you get a nice sized slice or bread and the topping was perfectly seasoned. My friend ordered the Penne a la vodka and I ordered the Linguine Daniela. The pasta was perfectly cooked in both dishes and there was a good amount of chicken in my dish.We passed on dessert because we were both so full but the waiter brought us a piece of cake with a candle as it was my friend's birthday. I always appreciate these little gestures.We shared a half litre of the Pinot Grigio which was a perfect fit with our meals. Altogether our bill came to $69.50 and we each had to take half of our meal home.The only negative was that, although he was very pleasant, our waiter didn't seem to understand the subtleties of restaurant service. When I asked for the bill he seemed to think we wanted to run out the door immediately and came 3 times to process my payment although I hadn't even touched the folder yet. I finally had to point out that my friend still had a fair bit of wine to drink and that I would let him know when we were ready.If it were just the food alone, I would rate this restaurant a strong 4.5.
