Garden's Cafe - Burlington

This is a good place to take a break after visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens. We were pleased with the "homemade" quality of our sandwiches and will certainly go again.

My wife and I ate a late lunch here during a recent visit to the RBG. We went to eat quite late and almost missed getting in (they close at 3 p.m.). We both chose the Crispy Fish Sandwich and we both thought it was quite tasty. I also tried the Pommies Cider. It was just right; not too sweet nor too tart. The service was good.

There was so much potential--lovely setting, fresh herb pots in the open kitchen. Our order was simple; foccacia and salad. It took over an hour to get the food! The place has 12 tables! Then the horror of biting into mixed salad greens that someone had dumped the salt shaker into. Crunchy crystals of salt--yuck!! All the while the manager sat at the next table, sampling olive oils with a salesman. The meal was removed from the bill, but even that took 20 minutes to get. We couldn't go to other gardens due to time restraints cause by the horrible cafe "lunch".

A group of six of us had lunch here as part of taste of Burlington. The ambiance is nothing great, you feel like you are in a cafeteria but we were glad we chose this as the food did not disappoint. The warm salad was very good and was a meal all by itself... a bunch of us also had the fish and chips. The fish was done very well and was just perfect., the chips on the other hand were very tiny and could be improved on they were served in little baskets. One of the other individuals had the mac and cheese and said it was also very good. The highlight of the meal was the dessert the bread pudding was so delicious, we all really enjoyed it. The restaurant was very noisy while we were there as there was an event going on in the room next door it looked like it was a shower or something like that. I would definitely try on of the other RBG food venues in the near future.
