Never disappoints! Food is phenomenal. Tortillas are made fresh. All ingredients taste homemade. Service is always great!

Salads are $5 more expensive since pre covid, yet the “double” portion of meat is less than what a single portion of meat used to be just a year ago.Staff is rude and can not speak english

I have never written a bad review before , but th Cafe Rio was not only disappointing, service there was downright unpleasant! There were five women employees behind the counter, and I was the only customer in line for the first five minutes. Another customer came in, and we both waited for what felt like another five minutes, while being ignored. The lady behind me quietly noted the help had attitude. One lady stayed at the cash register. One was heating tortillas and one was eating. I can understand them, but two were laughing and chatting with each other right in front of us. I assume one was learning the ropes, but when the mentor reluctantly turned to take my order, she was unsmiling and rude. I won 't be going back. If the food had been good, the long wait might be worth it, but it wasn 't good, and I normally love Mexican food! Bad attitudes, poor service, disappointing food. One star, because I can 't give zero.

Great food. Handmade fresh tortillas are the best we have had in VA.Vegetarian options: Black beans and rice are a staple for most of the options.

Great food but lines can get longEdit: March 2024What to say about this place besides how disappointed I am about how it has gone downhill over time. We started going here since opening day. Lines were constantly out the door, excellent food, amazing and friendly staff.In the last few years, it has been on a steady decline of food quality and service. It is now more common than not to have guacamole that is brown, bland and dry chicken, maybe a light dusting of cheese for tacos or quesadillas and a constant shrinking of portion sizes and upcharging for what used to be standard sides.On my most recent visit, the cashier seemed almost disgusted that I dared bother her to ring my order up. This specific aspect has been a constant over the last year of visits.Why do we keep coming here with this constantly happening? Because of how good the food and service was at first and a constant hope that it will return to that.With all this said, I might add that I greatly still enjoy the sweet pork and horchata beverage.
