I saw this place on travel adviser and thought that eating looked fantastic and decided to book a table when we were in the toscana. the problem was that they could only book by phone and, unfortunately, neither I nor my partner can speak. Italian, so we had to have a friendly ring and book a table for 8 o'clock a Sunday night. the night we went to the restaurant was very stormy and to say that the trip on the hills on very narrow roads at ton height black was interesting to speak mildly! but we finally found the place and around 7.30 and as no lighter where on, what seemed to be a family house, instead of a restaurant we were sitting only in the car until 8 o'clock. my partner was sure that the place was closed and that we should go back to the hills and find something else, so I said I will go and see if it is actually open or not. I walked around and saw no signs of life until I came into a kitchen window and saw a family sitting in the food. my partner still wanted to go, but I decided to ring the bell. a dame came out and I could say here, I had a table in rough italian / English booked and after much confusion turned out that she had made a mistake and forgotten to tell us that she would be closed because of the storm and the kovid. she apologised and we told her that it would be okay that we would go, but she wouldn't leave us and the restaurant opened for us only. then she brought some of the most delicious authentic Tuscan foods that you could imagine in quantities that tested my stomach endurance to the limit, so much that I could barely squeeze the small pieces of fried chicken that I had for my secondo course, the anti pasti was for two of us a meal in his own and we had some of the best pasta and pizza that I have ever eaten. I would like to thank her and her family for such wonderful hospitality and warm welcome and I would ask everyone to book here, so immediately they will not regret it, they simply do not try to go in the night, as the roads above are very narrow!
9 of us had a phenomenal meal served by the most wonderful people. eating is homemade and plentiful. it is from the grid; but, well worth the nice trip. a big thumb.
Here's the story. I was in a diligence and my card that I ran cash from (atm). I didn't pay attention. this caused me all sorts of problems, but to tell them about this restaurant, they just need to know that I am 15 euro cash and no possibility to get more until I am friends about 3 hours away. it was a Sunday. I had florence left a day earlier. Anyway, I was on the back roads with a full tank of gas and tried to find a new road I had not yet. I drove north of pistoia and then west. north of montecatini Terme...I went to more obscure land with olive groves. I started with the signs for trattoria da valentino and I was hungry. I followed, followed, and finally I came to the restaurant. as usual it was late, maybe 2:30 or so with a sad 15 euro to my name. there was a chance they would take a credit card. I was hoping. I went through the rope curtain and entered a wonderful world. to the right was the kitchen, secret, happy, busy. straight ahead was a small food business that was more like someone home. a very nice woman greeted me and I asked if she credit cards. No, they have 10 euro? we can make them a nice lunch for 10 euro with wein, maybe I said with wein. I hesitated, but I wanted to. you only live this once. so she led me to the left into a large room where there were some late afternoon groups with a long lazy lunch, as it is tradition in italien. not long after I sat, the excellent service began. I think the mama brought me a big noodle with a Funghi sauce. you can see it on the photos. it was a big bowl with a big spoon. I've done everything. they also put a bottle of white wine on the table and I served. it was delicious! eating was perfect, the service was excellent, the family was so beautiful. the mother thought it was very funny that I found the place that was lost. I could hear the Italian word for lost what is similar to the French word perdre. I wasn't really lost. Is it lost if they want to be like that and have a good sense of direction? I paid my 10 euro and went back. I am going back in definitiw. they were so nice and the food was excellent. When I came to my friends in northern Italy, I told them about it. I showed them the photos and my friend olinto said...Malocchio! that means evil eye there was no evil eye there. simply super friendly people and excellent eating. if I think they have healed me of my bad luck. Thank you!
