Tenth Avenue Cafe - BUDGEWOI

We dropped into the restaurant on a Saturday night and we were so impressed with the food and service. My steak was cooked to perfection. My husband's seafood was stunning. We will be returning!

Decent food. Friendly enough but at times an imposition to serve the customer. Be in trouble if competition opened.

We went for our anniversary dinner. Garlic bread was dry and I could not taste garlic. Herb bread had a couple of green flakes on it but no taste. I had the fried Camembert entree. DRY! No flavour at all in the breading. I squeezed the cheese out of the breading but that barely made it tolerable. 16$ for that and the best thing on the plate was the tiny amount of cranberry sauce. My husband had sizzling prawns. He said they were OK but not the best.For main I had the special cranberry filled chicken. I nearly finished my chicken before I found the tiniest, maybe a teaspoon, bit of cranberry. In fact I forgot I ordered cranberry filled!!! Chicken. I had asked for extra mashed potatoes when ordering because last time we ate here I noticed they only give you about a heaped table spoon of mash...which by the way was the nicest thing in my plate. Did not get extra. Chicken was under seasoned and once I put enough salt on it the flavour was okay. three green beans, a slice of zuccini and about a quarter cup of mash. Not worth $30. My husband had the surf and turf and said it was seasoned okay. His portion sizes seemed more in line with the $33. Better than okay but not great. All in all a very disappointing evening.

Looks just like a shopfront on the outside and nothing special about the décor either. Incredible food though. Guaranteed to be licking your plate especially if you order the surf n turf. Chef is very friendly (loves the Parramatta eels) and his presentation of the food is outstanding. On the night we were there, the service was a little on the slow side. The food was worth the wait.

We had a first class meal and thoroughly recommend the venue. Very friendly, small and tastefully decorated. We had Prawn twisters for Entrees which were delicious. For Mains I had a Surf and Turf (superb) and Helen (my wife) enjoyed a Chicken and Cranberry which she liked very much.
