Los Helechos Restaurante - Bucerías

Hemos ido varias veces en familia porque nos queda cerca. La última vez llevamos un grupo de amigos. Mala idea. Casi todos nos antojamos con el pescado a la veracruzana. Al rato nos trajeron unos salteaditos de pescado que no tenían NADA que ver con la receta veracruzana. Incluso pregunté por aceitunas y nos dijeron que "nos las deberían" porque no tenían. Si no contaban con los ingredientes, nos preguntamos por qué no nos avisaron para pedir otra cosa. Cocinaron todo fresco pero pareció que se esmeraron para darnos gato por liebre. Igual nos cobraron $210 por cada platillo (por el mismo monto en Toscana Mía se come de lujo !). Nos sentimos muy mal con nuestros amigos, que salieron muy insatisfechos. Habiendo tan buenas opciones en la zona, creo que aquí ya no regresaremos.

Returned for the 2nd year and it was as good as ever. They have the best salsa. Not pico de gallo as most restaurants have. It has a unique flavour. The orange chicken is always good and of course for those who like it the liver and onions is their speciality. A glass of red wine is reasonable and good. The owner Jesus will serve you and after your meal perform a magic trick.

Excellent service. Friendly, and very relaxed atmosphere. Corn soup and liver (if U are into liver ) exceptional. A must yry in my opinion. The boxer. John

We love Helechos so much! We first discovered it years ago when we were renting a house down the street. Since then, we make a point of getting back, even if we're not staying in Bucerias. Hector (we think that's his name) is so lovely. He always has a magic trick for the kids, a bad joke or two, and lots of conversation. The restaurant has a couple hummingbird feeders, and it's wonderful to watch them flutter in and out to feed. We've had both breakfast and lunch/dinner there and it's all wonderful. Very simple, traditional Mexican and oh so yummy. Highly recommend it.

Nice Mexican place! The staff is really friendly, he will chat with you about the flora or fauna of his restaurant. Food is delicious.
