Darnell Farms - Bryson City

My family had a great time stopping here on our way to Cherokee. We sat at a picnic table by the water while enjoying some Dream Whip. The kids loved the swings and seesaw. We also left with some jarred marmalade and fresh produce.

I visited Darnell Farms after reading some positive reviews on HappyCow, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The Dole Whip was excessively sweet, and I wasn't pleased with the preparation. After a long, hot day outside, the staff seemed sweaty and tired, and I couldn't shake the feeling that their sweat was possibly dripping into the Dole Whip mix as they made it. Additionally, the area where they served sweet treats was swarming with numerous flies and bees. While they do offer some delightful homemade canned jams, pickled vegetables, and bags of fresh corn, the overall experience was marred by discomfort, especially given the lingering effects of COVID. If you’re not bothered by these issues, it might be worth a visit, but I personally wouldn’t go back.

Additionally, the fruits and vegetables displayed on the side were swarmed with numerous fruit flies, regular flies, and bees. It's clear they have a great selection of fresh produce, homemade jams, pickled veggies, and fresh corn for sale. However, the overall experience felt uncomfortable and strained due to Covid-19 precautions. If you’re not overly concerned about these issues, you might want to give it a try.
