The bakery is located about 15 miles from West Lafayette, making it challenging for university students with limited transportation options to visit. However, they make it easier by bringing freshly baked goods to the Lafayette Farmers Market three times a week during the summer (on Wednesdays at Cumberland Park, Thursdays on campus, and Saturdays in downtown Lafayette). I've never been let down by any of my purchases. I typically go for their fruit or nut-filled pastries. My favorites are the sweet-art apricot and lemon bars, while my colleagues rave about the pecan and peanut butter bars. Don't miss out on their Brezel dough rolls and delicious bread either. The only downside is the lack of vegan options. Whenever I buy treats for the office, our poor vegan colleague is left out. Thankfully, he often finds a way to bring his own snacks. (I’ve never seen lard listed in the ingredients, so I believe most items should be suitable for vegetarians.)
In summary, visiting Brookston for a delightful lunch is definitely worthwhile.
I wouldn't recommend buying the challah rolls. They were burnt and seemed like they had been frozen for too long, making them stale. Not a pleasant experience.
