Maria's Coffee Sandwich - BROMLEY

On a rare shopping trip to Beckenham High St we stumbled across Maria’s Coffee and Sandwich shop. I’m so glad we did!!! The service was fantastic. The food was very reasonably priced and was cooked and tasted great. We will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for food and lovely drink.

We have for the last year been working our way through the many cafes in Beckenham and stopped at Maria`s for a pre Christmas lunch. Very friendly welcome and good service whilst we were there. Plenty of food on the plates, at a reasonable price and everybody was satisfied with their meals.

We have been regular visitors to Aldo Maria’s for many years. The food is always excellent and Aldo Maria are warm, friendly hosts. It is definitely the best place for freshly cooked lunch brunch in Beckenham and very popular with many locals.

I came into the restaurant excited to try the food as I love Italian and it seemed like a family run, cheap place to eat. I needed the toilet first though and was told it was only for paying customers, which was understandable. After being shown where the toilet was by the lovely gentleman, I sat down and ordered pesto. I was told that it was made by them and it was fresh. I can safely say it was one of the blandest things I’ve ever tasted. I was asked by the gentlemen how I liked my food and replied with honesty. His excuse was that should have ordered something else. When the woman came to charge me, she rudely told me that if I just wanted to use the toilet, then I should go to Costa. I explained that in actually did want to eat there and I needed to go before I sat down (not that I should have to explain myself). After expressing that I wanted to eat there, but I just didn’t enjoy what I was served, she told me that pesto is a bland dish and there was nothing she could do. Very poor customer service. Felt very uncomfortable and would not go again. Shame, as the desserts looked quite nice.

Bought a bagel from here to take away, ate half before realising it was mouldy!! Hope I don't get ill...
