The Filly Inn - Brockenhurst

A few days ago, nine adults and three small children enjoyed Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was fantastic, with most of us choosing the roast beef or pork which was tender and flavorful. We were seated at a long table in a spacious area near the fireplace and loved the cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be returning soon.

The new management team at The Filly Inn welcomes you and hopes you enjoy your visit. Our food is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and cooked to order. Our specials board features exciting dishes that change daily, such as Lymington Crab, New Forest Venison, and hand-made Beef burgers. To complement our menu, we offer a great selection of wines at fair prices. Wine expert Joe Wadhams has curated an interesting and diverse selection from some of the best small vineyards worldwide.

We reserved the family room, located at the rear of the hotel between the kitchen and restaurant. It was a dimly lit converted storage area that seemed passable at first glance. The bathroom was small and unclean, the shower kept fluctuating in temperature, and anyone over 5 feet tall couldn't comfortably fit between the toilet and the wall. The beds were uncomfortable with springs poking through, and the carpet was dirty and sticky. Due to the exorbitant prices, we opted not to dine in the restaurant and went elsewhere. We were looking forward to a relaxing evening watching TV, but the noise from the kitchen machinery was so loud that it drowned out the sound from the TV. Additionally, the music playing in the kitchen was loud enough for us to sing along to. Despite our request to lower the volume, it was only momentarily reduced before reverting to its previous level. Upon speaking with the manager, who was clearly displeased at being disturbed during his evening off, he displayed a dismissive and unapologetic attitude, claiming that guests don't typically desire peace and quiet at 8:30 pm. Despite our early departure the following morning, our request for cereal delivery and a printed bill were not fulfilled. The lack of service and poor attitude, especially considering the high cost of our stay, was unacceptable.
