Ordered a spicy two piece with the duck heart gravy mash and cornbread along with the fried chicken burger add foie. The chicken was crispy and juicy and the spicewas fine, I'd consider it a good fried chicken but nothing mind blowing, however, both the sides were impeccable. UnfortunatelyI finished on the burger which left me wanting, the cold slab of foie taking away anything the burger could have offered.
For comfort food seekers, this is a place to check out! Great chili chicken (very spicy but the mixed spices was outstanding something you can?t eat other places), salted egg chicken was great too (crispy skin and juicy inside). As for sides, Brusselssprouts were a bit too greasy; mashed potatoes was creamy yet heavy; cornbread got nice balance between sweetness and savorycheese. Both food and service are excellent here! Worth a try for sure.
Let me start by saying, I've been thinking about the mash potatoes and gravy since I left Pecking House. We went at about 6 on a Thursday and was able to order and snag a table pretty easily. We got 2x 2 piece chilli chicken. One with mashed potatoes andgravy, and one with the dirty fried rice as the sides. It's fast service and HOT chicken. Usually, when chicken spots do spice,it's salty and overwhelming. This place nails the balance. The meat is juicy, the chicken is CRISPY and the spice is moreflavour than pain. If you take a second to look around while you're eating, I promise you people are literally licking theirfingers. The mashed potatoes with duck heart gravy were to die for and my favourite of it all. The dirty fried rice wasdifferent, can't say it stood out but it was still great. Everything is served in paper plates or plastic containers. Not sureif this is permanent or another pop up but please go experience this place while it's here.
Their chili fried chicken was really good? very crispy skin with tender and juicy meat! I don?t know how they did it. Even the breast was juicy. The sauce was a bit too spicy for me but I couldn?t stop! ???? I had gravy as my side. It toned down thespiciness from the chicken but overall was ok. Only thing that annoyed me was lining up outside the restaurant just to ordertake-out.
There must be sourcery involved because the crust on the fried chicken is GLORIOUS! I got the Chili version which has Sichuan peppercorns. It's just spicy enough that you have that tingling on your lips but not so much you need to slow down or drinksomething. The skin is perfect. Also I don't have that greasy, heavy feeling after. The sesame heirloom bean salad was amazing.The beans were perfectly creamy.
