Bidra med feedbackIt was my first time in Staten Island and I went there just for this restaurant. It was well worth the trip. You see the incredible maximalist Sri Lankan interiors and feel transported, and still the food tops the feels. The flavors are incredible and the owner is the one who makes buffet meals. I saw a man go up and shake her hand, because he was so happy with her cooking. Outside of the restaurant there isn’t much going on in that part of town, at least not that I could tell. But this is a testament to how incredible it is to have people come over from all over, share their delicious food and culture and make something out of nothing. Love everything about this place and the family that makes it happen.
FOOD: awesome It was a buffet on the weekend and cash only. The food in the buffet was awesome! Service lack luster but there was no need because it was buffet. Just great! I do wish we could have ordered from the menu since there were more options and just to try other stuff but I would come here again and hope others at least try it!
Fantastic Sri Lankan food, go for the buffet, so worth it. Nice servers also.
Stopped by for lunch. We were excited to try it but it was a VERY long wait for food like 40 min. They forgot to bring our appetizer but made up for it by comping us our mango lassi. We were grouchy by the time our food came out so perhaps that’s why we didn’t enjoy the food so much. We tried the chicken lamprais but it wasn’t for us. Biryani was good but prefer biryanis at Indian restaurants more. Roti with curry was good. Glad we tried the place but would not come back, especially after such a long wait for our food. Great decor though.
I live in Manhattan and come all the way down here to this restaurant in Staten Island just for the food, especially their weekend buffet!! Absolutely delicious food, love their gooseberry dessert, and the whole atmosphere, vibe, and decor of this place is as if you're dining in some temple in South Asia. This place is an NYC institution and any New Yorker needs to try this place at least once cuz the Sri Lankan food you get elsewhere in the city (a few in Manhattan and Brooklyn) is either overpriced or gentrified and just not good. But this place is legit and can't wait for my trip down here!
