Bidra med feedbackLove their soy garlic chicken and seafood fried rice! Very friendly staff. I've also tried and like their kimchi fried rice.
Some friends have recently moved to Astoria and we were trying to find a place to eat lunch. After looking at reviews we decided to try Drunken Chicken because I'm always down to rate another fried chicken restaurant. I ordered the small combo (5 wings and 3 drumsticks) soy garlic flavor, mentai pasta, and ramen burger. The combo was inconsistent as there was a mix of juicy flavorful chicken pieces and dry tasteless pieces, The pickled radish that came with it was mushy, as well. 3/5 The ramen burger was a disappointment. Granted I'm super late to the fad and just ordered it to see what the hype was. The meat patty and toppings in the burger were fine, but the ramen bun was mushy in the middle and tasteless. 2/5 The mentai pasta was surprisingly the highlight of the meal. It was creamy, covered in roe and delicious. 5/5 My friends ordered the chicken burger and karaage. They said the chicken burgers (spicy and regular) were good. I got to try a piece of the karaage because my friend did not want to finish it, and I can tell why. It was tasteless and was not crispy. Might have been a little better if it came with a slice of lemon to squeeze on top. 2/5 They do offer 10% off if you order online, so if I were to order from here again, I would definitely utilize this promotion. Unfortunately, I would not consider this place a gem compared to other fried chicken spots.
I always get MFC and I wanted to try something new. We came for dinner on Saturday. Seated immediately. Indoor and outdoor dining. I asked about free soju shot if I checked in, but the waiter wasn't too sure what I was referring to. And he still gave us 2 shots for free! Wow! We ordered the truffle fries, small combo (soy garlic drumsticks and honey garlic wings), and the bulgogi over rice. The food came out so quickly! I was hungry when I was seated, but 5 stars for the wait time for the food to come out. I feel like the spicy mayo sauce was spicier than MFC's. The only thing I didn't really like was that the soy garlic drumsticks were considerably spicy (not MFC). I can't eat spicy so I had some trouble finishing my drumstick. Made my bf finish eating the other 2. I do like how there are more sauce options than MFC! The wings were crispy and relatively decent. The service was mostly wonderful, although we did have to flag them down once to refill water. I would definitely come back to try the Moriyan menu or perhaps the other flavors of the chicken wings!
Chicken was dry. I eat a lot of Korean fried chicken and this tasted liked regular chicken wings with a little bit of sauce. I had it delivered to my hotel and I asked for sauce for the dumplings, none. There was no receipt/name on the bag and it was just left in the lobby. The front desk lady and I just assumed it was mine. The container was closed so the chicken was soft and not crispy. I called to check on the status of my order and no one answered. I won't order from them again.
I have walked by this place many a time and was eager to try. My mistake to walk in and buy. By all means I am not a wing connoisseur, but I am expecting flavorful juicy wings. I ordered a dozen wings half buffalo and sweet and spicy. They smelled great, but that's about it. Lack of flavor, the chicken was bland, tasteless and hard to eat chew. So sad that I could not devour this wonderful smelling meal that tasted like bland paper. Let me correct that, paper taste better. I hope to try again at some point but not any time soon.
