Bidra med feedbackMy wife and I are currently on holiday in Bristol, staying at the charming Berwick Lodge. Earlier today, we had lunch with two local friends at the Bank Tavern in the Old City. We decided to try the restaurant after hearing about the 3-year waiting list for their Sunday lunch. We were dropped off by Uber and quickly realized that the location was a bit hard to find. We ordered 4 Carrot Coconut Soups and 4 Venison Pies, which were all delicious. It's no wonder there's such high demand for their Sunday lunch. Overall, it was definitely worth the visit, and hopefully one day I'll have the chance to try their famous Sunday lunch.
This restaurant in Bristol is still my favorite for roast dinners! The flavors and service are unbeatable, and it's also great value for money. I'm happy I reserved a few tables a couple of years ago, but I'll be disappointed when they run out next year!
The Sunday dinner here was delicious, one of the best I ever had; veg was well cooked, the extras were delicious and the bark was so tender. I don't need a starter. for the price it was quite unbeatable. rather small in the inner so recommend booking (although they need to book a way in advance as this is popular).
I booked a frying dinner almost 2 years ago in the bank taverne and finally tried the famous frying dinner and it was not disappointed. the pub itself is strapped away and if they have not yet been, it is easy to miss. inside is a beautiful mix of new and old and the pub itself is very small and probably explains why the waiting list is so long! the starter I went with was the hammock and it was great! for the main I went with roast beef and it may be the best roast beef I had. it is soft and tender and melts simply in mouth! potatoes were beautiful and crispy. my only complaining at my main course was that I had only 2 pieces of bark where I had a frying offer as most other places 3. And to dessert I went with a white chocolate cream brûlée, which was again one of the best I had. all this for £19.95 is more excellent and will be hard to beat at this price. the staff was friendly and helpful and ensured that everything was in order with our food.
The roast at this quiet hidden location was excellent. The meal was enjoyable and delicious, but the real standout was the price. Three courses for £17.95 is a great deal. The only downside was the dessert - I wasn't a fan of the rice pudding.
