Bellavista - Brissago

My wife and I stayed here almost twenty years ago and we came back for a couple of days of Ticinese hospitality – an optimal combination of Italian warmth and cuisine with Swiss efficiency and beauty. The hotel has beautiful, relatively small rooms without tvs or phones, an advantage if you want to focus on the lake and surrounding mountains. The owners (Urs and Gabriella) do it all – bookings, welcome, cook, serve, and clean up – with grace and friendliness. They’ve created a number of cozy spots outdoors on the hillside to sit and read, enjoy the views, have a glass of Swiss or Italian wine (when in Rome…), and forget about life in the fast lane.It’s a steep 15 minute walk down to town where you can catch the ferry to Isole Brissago, a unique island dominated by gardens of almost every description. In the original palace is a fine restaurant along with hotel rooms and function rooms for weddings, meetings, etc. We spent half a day here, then continued on our ferry ride.Hint: ferry has limited schedule – check in advance.

The Bellavista enjoys a location few hotels in the world can boast (and I don't make that observation lightly) with the northern end of Lago Maggiore spectacularly set out below you from Locarno to Luino.A breakfast buffet which is first class and of a freshness rarely seen. Home made Birchermuesli was the best I've had and the fresh fruit salad was just that. Fresh! Good coffee and a single brown and white loaf of delicious crusty bread I haven't seen before. The service was charming and attentive and the rooms, whilst functional were perfectly comfortable ... and to be able to observe the spectacular view whilst lying in bed is pretty special.There's a swimming pool and a sun terrace both of which were clean and comfortable.Lastly whatever you do, dont plan on going out somewhere for dinner ... to sit there eating and drinking whilst watching the lights slowly come on all around the lake is worth the visit in itself. A great place well worth giving a try.

Es stimmt alles in diesem Lokal. Kein Schickimicki, regionale und saisonale Küche (gutbürgerlich), ein freundlicher Empfang und die Aussicht auf den See. Einfach herrlich!
