Pleasantly surprised by this place. Was just expecting a horrible pub joint but it was actually quite nice. Extremely busy but nice. Made a reservation online. My booking was there as expected. $10 jugs of beer...great! Ordered the grilled barra which was beautiful. Even the chips and salad was lovely. Honestly really pleasantly surprised with everything from service to food. Lovely!
Came here for a Friday lunch. Perfect little beer garden in the middle of the city. Where else can you get $10 jugs if beer. It was pretty busy on a friday lunch so its best to book if coming in a large group. We got their calamari and chips and their steak and chips which came with ceaser salad. Good portion sizes. We both polished our plates. Good atmosphere.
Cool place to hangout with friends for drinks. It's a very lively place and the live performances here are great. Drinks are quite reasonable.
$3 Steak on Sundays! Great Deal!. A $3 steak; how could we pass that up? If you can get past the mediocre bar staff and slight lack of cleanliness, then you’ll find that this is a fantastic deal!<br/ <br/ Looking for a place to have lunch on Sunday (16 December), my partner noticed a sign for $3 Steaks at the Victory Hotel. Why not, we thought and entered into the court yard with lots of seats outside, with some of them covered.<br/ <br/ We asked one of the bar maids what the steaks came with and she answered we could order chips for an additional $2. This Sunday deal seemed to be getting better and better. <br/ <br/ We decided to order some drinks and looked through the big selection of what was on tap. We asked about one of them and the two bar maids seemed to have no clue. Nor did they seem friendly, enthusiastic or even appreciative that we were there. They were however, dutifully dressed to be “eye candy” behind the bar, but I guess that’s where their job description may have ended. I ordered a bottle of Tooheys Old beer and my partner had a pint of Bulmers Cider which came to $11.95. <br/ <br/ Having been given a pager for when our food was ready for pick-up, we went to find seats. Finding a table in the covered section we sat down. Near my seat, however, I had stepped in a big piece of gum, obviously left by some of the clientele who one would imagine frequenting this place. Charming.<br/ <br/ Our pager went off and my partner wen to retrieve our meals. Turns out that the $2 chips were actually chips and salad.<br/ <br/ Digging in, our medium-rare steaks had been cooked to medium, with only a slight trace of pinkness inside. They were still very tender and had a light salty seasoning on it, so overall, it was still quite tasty.<br/ <br/ The salad served with it was a Caesar salad, which was a nice change from the usually served green salad. The only problem with this was that the salad had been served warm. I ate it anyway because I was hungry, but a note to the kitchen, perhaps keep an eye on this to prevent complaints to the health department.<br/ <br/ The chips were very hot and fresh. With a descent amount of salt and a crispy golden outside, they were fabulous bar chips!<br/ <br/ I am going to vote that I like this restaurant but it is ONLY based on the food we ate. $5 for a well-sized lunch of fairly good quality is certainly a place I’ll be coming back to.
