Bidra med feedbackVery good restaurant with a large terrace (better to book in avance this summer) ; the food is very good, efficient and friendly service and good value for money. Large parking 3 mn walk from the restaurant and you are at the gate of old city with its basilique St-Julien. Animation on the square during the summer.
This restaurant has roadside tables as well as inside tables. The menu isn 't vast and not what I 'd call typically French. The worst thing was the chips, they look like they 'd been cooked about 4 times and kept warm for a few hours. There are no menus in English so you may struggle a bit if you are a fussy eater. One waitress did speak a little English which helped. I can speak a bit of French but many food names are a mystery to me. It would have been nice to have a few more choices of fresh vegetables from the area. I did ask for a mix of vegetables but was given what can best be described as a slushy vegetable porridge, not nice. So, Cardigan, improve the vegetables, chips and provide a tourist menu and you 'd gain a couple of points!
Went there with Friends for lunch.. The lunch menu was great, and the plats de jour was very nice with a choice of starter and a choice of main. Service was friendly and efficient The courses were not rushed and dogs were allowed into the restaurant. This is quite common in France. Loved the ambiance and it was a very popular place at lunch time so booking is best. If you do turn up on spec, then go early, before 12.30 Will be going again when next in Brioude.
Menu changes daily as it is used by local people for lunch. The portions are more generous than a lot of French restaurants. You won't come out hungry.
Reserved as lunch time is busy. Sat in the little cave, best place to sit. Greeted and sat by pleasant server. Menu was great but the lunch menus looked great.
