Bidra med feedbackFor those who have never met a carbohydrate, wait until you see the bread car! most people swore about the gloomy, but if they love broth, this is paradisia. the appetizers small plates, are really imaginative and really supplement the entreen. the maitre d'. is good when you show the pairings and the smmeliers are excellent.
We called the hotel Metropole 2 days prior to make a reservation before our intended visit to the Joel Robuchon Restaurant for breakfast. We were told they were not taking reservations but we should simply walk in to have breakfast. So on Sunday the 28th...of July we decided to drive to Metropole hotel by 9am for breakfast. As soon as we arrived to the reception the lady told my sister that “they were full” and that they had no tables available. she said this without even looking at her bookings or the restaurant and as we looked on, the restaurant was clearly empty with only 2 full tables. And then her colleague came over without enquirying to simply say “Yes we are full” and soon after they were three, their manager Mr. Mario joined them and came over again without enquiring and said “We are full” clearly with an empty restaurant at 9am on Sunday morning. It became obvious and apparent that they had seen an African American family and decided just not to allow us dine there. I would not normally relate this to race but when there is an empty restaurant what else could this be? The funny fact is that our family were staying at hotel de Paris, a more prestigious hotel and we only wanted to tryout a new breakfast venue as we had experienced breakfast at Hotel de Paris on Friday and Chevre d’Or on Saturday. Sharing my experience here on Trip Adviser ensures that hotels can no longer get away with this type of behavior. Behaviour of this nature needs to be exposed and only then can the right change come about.
This is a fabulous hotel with a cosy, library style ambiance in the foyer area, welcoming very efficient staff and a lovely environment for a drink, snack or light meal. The Christmas decorations are stunning. We could only stay for an hour so my friend...and I ordered a bottle of water, a glass of wine and a toasted chicken sandwich. Tables are highly sought after so you really need to book but although the area was very busy it wasn 't too noisy so good for relaxing and conversing. We enjoyed our visit to this very special hotel but the toasted sandwich was a great disappointment containing the thinnest slice of chicken I have ever seen unimaginatively presented with a small mound of roughly chopped lettuce, all rather unworthy of this fine hotel. Thankfully there were a number of good condiments on the table that we could add to the sandwich to give it a bit more 'life '. The bread rolls were excellent though!
The food here was excellent. Highly recommend. Even the PENS that you sign your bill with are heavy. I mean this place is pure class.
How about waiting twenty minutes to start with before being able to order with 3 persons staff and far from all tables taken? How about prioritizing customers before cosying behind the counter? I would maybe be less inclined to be negative had not the cafe...belonged to a five star hotel and having hefty prices? If you pay Eur 11 for one macciato, one espresso and a Perrier you expect service, cleanliness, water with your coffee without having to ask. Why two points and not one after this negativism? Because I like the little comfy chairs, the busy surroundings in the middle of the mall, very Monaco.
