Bidra med feedbackDon't come here for the hibachi- come here for the sushi. This is one of my favorite places around, the atmosphere brings me back every time. Sure, the place could use a little updating, I don't think it's changed much since my last review three years ago- but this is a quaint, quiet, and can even be an intimate, Japanese restaurant that is easy to fall in love with. My boyfriend and I always choose the curtained booths. It provides a semi enclosed space that makes our dining a special meal. We'll normally come here if we're short on money but want to eat out, or if we want to have a perfectly relaxing meal. It's rarely busy around lunch time and late lunch, which is when we always come to sit down and eat. The prices are great for the quality of the food. I normally pay between $7-$12 for my whole (vegetarian) meal. They do have a handful of vegetarian options, although I haven't tried them all despite how many times I've been here.. I always find myself ordering my favorites. Miso soup, seaweed salad and cucumber avocado rolls are always a must for me. I have never not been served fresh avocado here! My boyfriend loves fish, and continuously enjoys the sushi and can vouch it's a steal for its price. Unfortunately, today he mentioned his tuna was dry, but that's the only problem we've ever had here. The service is great. I see the same waitress and cook time after time, and they never look unhappy to be there nor to serve us, even if we're the only ones in the whole restaurant. We keep coming back for the relaxed atmosphere, the great prices, the fresh sushi and the great service.
OMG THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! If you are into microwaved rice and noodles and flavorless food then this is your spot!! However I like flavor to my food...oh and clean glassware. The rolls were ok but the shu mai dumplings were frozen and then heated in the microwave! This place was horrible down to the seating if you enjoy sitting on ply wood with a piece of floor carpeting over it then this place is definitely for you! However I like to enjoy a meal without being in pain! Never going here again!! Wasted $60 for no reason!!!
I read the reviews and thought it was going to be an awesome place and boy were we disappointed. The food was absolutely terrible. The food tasted like it was already cooked and reheated. We had shrimp hibachi and the steak and scallop hibachi. They were both terrible, I wasn't even sure if it was really scallops because it didn't look out tasted like it. Oh and the shrimp hibachi came with the dresser if a big black hair in it. Before you ask I know it wasn't mine because I am bald. Thankfully most of it had no flavor to it. The shumai tasted like it was microwaved. And the California roll was just ok. We ordered water to drink and the glasses were both filthy and the soup bowls were all scratched up and the paint was coming off inside the soup. To make things worse the seats in the booths are basically plywood with the same carpet on the floor covering it. Talk about a pain in the coolie it was beyond uncomfortable! We really tried to give this place a chance. But it just kept getting worse and worse. The service was good at least. I really don't understand how we had a different experience than everyone else but after spending $60 here we had to go down the road and get something else to eat. Will not be back here again. It is the worst Japanese food we have ever eaten.
Hands down the best miso soup around. I love miso and get it most anywhere I go. Sapporo's miso is by far the best miso in this area. In addition to the miso I also enjoy their tofu teriyaki and sushi. I tried their vegetable fried rice last night for the first time and was pleased that it wasn't greasy. The atmosphere is pleasant, we always try to get a booth, they're fun to sit in. The staff is friendly and accommodating, prices reasonable.
Just moved to Brewster from Ossining. Called for take out and my order was ready for pickup in 10 minutes. The soup was still warm by the time I brought it home. It didn't need any flavor boost from soy sauce. Everything was delicious and well prepared. I think their prices are reasonable and on par with what I usually pay for good sushi. I recommend Sapporo and will gladly go back! Delicious!
