Turned up today and despite the kitchen being closed in preparation for the chef getting ready for the new menu, we were still offered some good choices and had a lovely lunch. Great service and will definitely be going back.
Owner is rude, discriminating and literally could not be bothered to attend the interview that he set up on time. He was 20 minutes late. Told me being self employed isn’t working so therefore I won’t get employed due to not working for a long time. Rude rude man! In response to your response “Hello im sorry. You were not right for the job you began the interview telling me you work somewhere else handing me a leaflet about a xbox gaming van and spent the first 5 mins talking about it. Its like you were trying to sell me a a service and not wanting a job. It was all about the business you own. When i said no you became agessive you were rude and told me you wanted 2.50 more than the advertised rate you don't have a food hygiene certificate you haven't worked in the role im hiring for 4 years. I stopped the interview and asked you to leave. What exactly did you expect. For us to go into partnership with your PlayStation van on wheels? I'm hiring staff not looking for a PlayStation van.” My response: You organised an interview at 10am and did not show until 10:20am and ignored my calls. I was about to leave when you eventually turned up so thought I’d see it through. You have stated nothing but lies, I explained I run a business yes, and showed you what it is. I did not talk about it for 5 minutes, I answered the questions you asked. Your blunt response was “is it going to affect your job” in such a patronising tone. You had an attitude from the minute you showed up and you could not remember a single thing I had told you previously from the phone interview that happened 2 days prior. You clearly have no leadership skills and judging by the other reviews left about this pub, it’s quite clear the public also agree. You kept rubbing your eyes and yawning every 5 seconds and snorting like a pig…this doesn’t show someone who is actually a good manager let alone someone who can be bothered to do their own work. And quite frankly, it’s just rude mannerisms when someone is sat directly in front of you!!!! I don’t understand where you get that I haven’t worked for 4 years from at all, because I have and am currently working? Please do not lie to make yourself look better. I do not have to disclose every form of information to you whatsoever! I am entitled to ask for more money, that is not a crime. I am fully trained and FULLY experienced and good at what I do. Unfortunately, you don’t value people’s time, effort or skillsets. You also don’t value that staff would have a family. If I were to take a chef role (which you stated the role was both kitchen and bar, hours of 12pm-closing time….!!!! I would be working under YOUR license, not my own. This wasn’t a self employed role, therefore, it is the owner’s responsibility to provide correct PPE where applicable, and to hold the correct licences. You made me feel uncomfortable from the start and I wouldn’t trust being alone with you. You were rude from the start, and I would never have taken the position with the state of your attitude anyway. This job has been reported on Indeed.
Not a bad pub and got a lot of potential. Sadly when visited today, apart from myself and my mate, no one other than the barmaid was in there. The couple of pints I had were cheaper than the surrounding pubs well chilled so from that perspective all good
Our first visit since it reopened. No problem with the food but clearly still a long way to go we were the only diners for lunch on that Wednesday. Also i fear that charging £9.50 for a large glass of Shiraz may well see customers think twice.
