Bidra med feedbackI stopped by for tea and cake but had to remind the staff about my order after waiting for at least 45 minutes. By the time my order arrived, my tea was almost finished. The scone was served warm with jam, even though I didn't ask for it. I couldn't find the prices of cakes on the menu, but later discovered that the prices listed on their website were lower than what we were charged. Unfortunately, we weren't the only ones experiencing long wait times - a family ended up leaving because they were tired of waiting. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
The service was very slow and we had to request menus. I ordered a baked potato with langoustine tails and Marie Rose sauce, but I believe the langoustine were actually fake surimi. They tasted terrible. The coffee was decent, but the toilets are located upstairs. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.
The interior of the restaurant seemed a bit neglected, but the waitress was friendly. We had to ask for a menu as none were available. The prices for the food were a bit steep, around £12 for a breakfast with two of everything, which we can get for half the price at Wetherspoons, where you can also have unlimited hot drinks. A jacket potato with beans and cheese cost about £7.50, and small pork and stilton sausage rolls were £4.50 each. The food was nice but could have been larger portions. The hot drinks were fine. Next time we are in Swaffham, we will probably try a different restaurant.
We all are lunch and the food was great and very reasonably priced, I thought. Coffees all fine too and staff were pleasant and accommodating. The only thing that stood out was the slowness of queueing to order, ordering, waiting for the order... Had I known just how much waiting would have been involved, I'd have driven on to my destination. Let's not blame the staff entirely here I feel it was mixture of the time of day (1pm) and the sudden rush of wealthy looking retired customers, all sour faced and disregarding of their co sour faced customers. And all taking an age to browse menu whilst holding up the queue. Having said that, the speed on totting up orders on calculators, processing the queue, and bringing food out was slow. Let's just say the food and drinks were great but avoid if the place is busy.
Very hard to fault. decent food, polite staff and a lovely lunchtime experiance. We should treasure gems like this.
