Bidra med feedbackI went to "The Little Tea House" for lunch today. My seven-year-old grandson asked if they had a panini, but it was not on the menu. The waitress kindly offered to make him a cheese and ham toastie instead. It arrived as two small slices of ordinary bread with a slice of ham and cheese, toasted and served with a few crisps. My grandson enjoyed it and ate it all. When I paid the bill, I realized I had been charged £8.30 for the toastie. I went back to ask about the price and was told it was because it had been "under the grill." I found this price to be more expensive than my jacket potato or my husband's soup, and was completely disgusted with the cafe.
We visited the Little Teahouse for a morning tea and were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and the service prompt. We enjoyed a spicy Christmas tea and scones with jam and cream and although it was a bit pricey, we enjoyed our visit. Better still, there was a lot of seating so we didn't have to wait.
This is a nice little cafe in a convenient location. The downstairs is crowded and the other floors are up very steep stairs so not suitable for the elderly or disabled. The toilets are upstairs too which could be a problem for some. The menu is nothing out of the ordinary but the food is always tasty. The reason for this review is our experience today. My very elderly Aunt struggled with an overly full cup of coffee and spilled it down herself. Why was it so full?! Myself and another customer helped clean her and the table up and ordered a replacement coffee. I appreciate it was busy but the staff could have moved much more quickly than they did. Whilst they were polite, they essentially left it to the other customer to help me and only brought extra serviettes when asked. No harm done this time but this could have been a nasty accident so I do feel the staff could have been much more proactive and attentive. The other customer left his family to help and was much more effective than they were, when he really shouldn’t have had to be. The young ladies were very sweet but ineffective, clearly unsure how to react to a very shocked and embarrassed elderly lady. The man who I assume may be the owner/manager was very nice when he arrived on the scene after the event. Possible staff training needed!
As we came off the car park, the place looked inviting, plenty of seating outside on a lovely Autumn day. We elected to sit inside, we were greeted, by a very pleasant waitress, who presented menus, and gave a rundown, of the specials . My wife was feeling a little unwell, I immediately asked for some water, which was provided quickly. We were allowed plenty of time to look at the menu, we ordered sandwiches hot drinks, they came in good time, were presented well, on the plate, obviously care was taken, to make it look, more than a sandwich. A small side salad, crisps, come with the sandwiches. The cappuccino is delightful, and the sandwich, was excellent. Slight downside for me, was the price of the sandwich, I think it is a little on the expensive side, but, I guess, it is in line with the area. The staff are all pleasant, helpful, the place is very clean tidy. I would definitely go back, when next in the town
This was our second visit to the little tea house and won’t be the last. Lovely staff, nice outdoors seating area and lovely range of food. We both had the baguette with onion relish mozzarella and ham, and it was just right for a lunchtime
