Bidra med feedbackTL;DR: With influences from how all the different ways pizza has come into fruition around the suburbs, Slice gets influences from the Italian style, fuses it with some Spanish influence of the owners ' heritage, and getting the Australian edge onto it where it is a big departure from the chains and has an approachable and intimate style to it all. Perfectly suited to a takeaway, each component of the pizza is given the due care that it deserves, and all of it showed from ordering upon finishing the meal. <br/ <br/ One of the local pizza places, great for the weekend time (Friday night included, it always is in this instance) or delivery at such a short notice. Previously being Una Bella, Slice still has that meticulous loving nature to make a pizza that will please a crowd. It started off good, and got even better as it went on. <br/ <br/ Getting to the last stretch of the calendar year, the schedule for the PPVs on the WWE Network were culminating to the final big one that often would end the year off with a bang and one of the favourites that gets looked forward to each and every time. That is none other than the Survivor Series, and this is one of the ones that will always get a big order done with the usual plan getting good delivery while watching the big event. So looking through the options that I have, it had to be pizza for this occasion, it just had to be. What this went to was going through both MenuLog and UberEats to see the best pizza that was available, and after going through the viable options it ended up being Slice Woodfired Pizza. Heck, it was also about high time to come back to MenuLog and give them another turn. <br/ <br/ Upon getting to the delivery end of things, often it is hard or at least limited in how much it can be critiqued and discussed outside of punctuality. But that being said, a few times beforehand there have been exceptions and this may well have been the biggest outlier since I got onto MenuLog and UberEats. There were three big reasons for this, all that make it all the more commendable. The first one came due to the ordering process being done several days in advance, by them calling through to confirm if the order was still on for the night; by all means of honesty, this is the better option since it shows attention to detail and that what they read was correct (some will say it is anal, I say it is meticulous) and that customer service is done smoothly. In addition, it gives peace of mind that they have an efficient ordering system. <br/ <br/ The second one comes back to being punctual, and boy were they punctual here. Regarding the time set for the meal to arrive, they got here with a good ten minutes to spare. That was amazing and showed a good efficiency back at the kitchen, and that they planned really well. Bonus brownie points are always given for when this is the case. They even called out 'pizza ' to check that it was the right location, and that was an earnest and characteristic touch to the whole experience. <br/ <br/ And the third and final aspect for why the service was so good came at the last leg. After calling out from across the road, as per usual with orders I was out the door to go and retrieve it, yet with it being such a big order, the guy went the extra length and actually brought the entire thing into the house. That was convenient since the table was right there in the entrance, and he was a friendly fellow complimenting the work that had been done to it. <br/ <br/ It is aspects like that which make all the difference with a place that does delivery, and it was only the beginning of the meal. What was to follow was some pretty good, substantial and filling pizzas. This is a welcome addition to the area, and hopefully it will be settled in as such. <br/ <br/ Before getting into the actual order, the run down of the menu is that it is mainly different varieties of pizza. This is one that really gets inventive as the menu goes on; what is meant by that is that at first, there is a few basic varieties on offer before the more inventive and meaty ones come into play. This even applies to the vegetarian pizzas, and quite a few of the pizzas sound like some of the strangest combinations around yet. <br/ <br/ A few other items are available, such as a few pastas, a range of fried chicken dishes, salads, desserts in the form of gelato, and the good old garlic bread for the side. There are also probably a bunch of cold drinks with the usual varieties to round it all up; and ultimately, it can be said it is the suburban pizza place which mainly focuses on pizza as opposed to offering all the bells and whistles in conjunction. <br/ <br/ As per tradition with one of these big events, when it is pizza that is involved that means one variety per match on the main card and this gave us the lucky number seven. Getting off to the starters, and one that almost could not be excluded from such a pizza order, was the garlic bread. Even this was in the form of pizza, and it had a simple yet effective and perfect combination that needs no deviation a good base, topped with Parmesan cheese, garlic, pepper, and herbs and served pipping hot. This is always a winner, as was the case right here. <br/ <br/ Going onto the pizzas that were delivered, each one was pretty distinct and unique from the others, that it was pretty hard to rank them. Overall, they had a good, thick amount of topping more of an Australian style than traditional Italian and each base was a thin crust. A few times they might have benefited from a bit more cooking, and with the heated up left overs many of them became even better than before. <br/ <br/ First cab off the rank is a meaty one called 'JD 's '. That was a winning combination, with ham, bacon, seasoned beef, capsicum, pineapple, mushroom, chili, and garlic. It had some good smokey flavours to it that were complimented with the sweetness of the pineapple. It is a good first introduction, since it shows the imagination of the cooks and just how adaptable pizza can be when thought and experimentation is put into it. <br/ <br/ There is little mystery here with this little black duck, that when an option on the menu sounds strange and over the top, attention is directed its way. If it sounds like it could work somehow, the target is locked in. That was the case with their 'Triple Cheesy Mac Cheese and Bacon ': on top of a garlic base, this had a macaroni cheese blend that was then complimented with two kinds of cheese, and heaps of bacon. I can rest assure you that this is a lot better than it sounds. The pasta was nice and chewy, the cheese melted really well and was both stretchy and sharp, and was overall really wholesome. The kids are sure to love this one, whether in actuality or at heart. <br/ <br/ No need for explanations for how good the capricisoa variety was, just the combination of ham, anchovies, mushrooms, olives, and capsicum is one that will always meld together well with a mixture of tastes and textures that is well balanced. It serves as a fall back option, and is always welcome in a pack. Once and again, I approve. <br/ <br/ If there had to be a weak spot in it all, and I don 't like to give it out for the most part mind you, it would possibly be the Mexican which was still really good. The mixture was pepperoni, mushroom, onion, and chili with jalapenos requested on it. This was a spicy, smoky and all round tasty option. It still is highly recommended, ergo it being the weak spot is indicative of how good the pizzas at Slice are. <br/ <br/ At the last instance of the ordering process, a chicken one was included. The choice was the country chicken, which also had bacon, onion, pineapple, shallots, garlic and two kinds of cheese on it. This was one time the chicken pizza was not awful, and the meat was tender and juicy. The creaminess of the sauce, plus the sweetness of the pineapple, and the mixture of the other ingredients with taste and texture made for an astutely done combination that is also well recommended. So far, we are on a roll. <br/ <br/ Onto the last one, and definitely not the least, it was 'Portofino ' an irresistible combination of bacon, mushroom, pineapple, prawns, garlic, and shallots with two different kinds of cheese. The bits of prawn were huge, plump and sweet, plus the aroma and texture of it was a little more creamy than the rest of the pizzas which gave it a distinct character and a bit of edge. The pineapple gave off some sweetness, the bacon some smokiness, and garlic simply improves every meal that it touches. Without a doubt, include this one in your order; I reckon you will not be disappointed by it. <br/ <br/ Let 's just say when getting pizza out, when it comes to us single living men there is often a big excess for later on. With the pizzas being so big, there was quite a bit leftover for the following few days. These slices managed to reheat well and satiated for several more meals, which indicates great value on their behalf. So for a big night out to something on hand for the following week, this was a meal that did pretty well. <br/ <br/ Giving it that 4.0 score, while I don 't have any real qualms about the pizzas they did benefit later on with being reheated, therefore it cannot be given too much of a high score. Outside of that though, basically everything else is commendable in some way. The pizzas were a good mixture of classic and inventive, they were plump and tasty, and even just a regular the smallest size from memory was enough to satiated at least four hungry bachelors. Just think about how many could be fed with a few larges or family sized ones, and that is another key strength of the place.
Great little restaurant. Pizzas were cooked in a woodfired oven and were delicious. Some of our party had regular pizza bases and some had gluten free. Both were great, and that's saying something with gluten free pizza. We will be back!
New owners are great. Store is clean. ipizza is faster (15 minutes). Sauce is tastier. Great improvement. Can't wait to try the pasta! It would be a good opportunity for the Instagram to be used more and I'll be keeping an eye of Facebook for midweek deals.
Stopped in for lunch with my wife today, absolutley impeccable service and the pizzas were amazing, best wood fire pizzas i have ever had, definitely will bengoing back for more, the cafe feels like home and so cosy. 10/10.
Great pizza, amazing service. The pizzas are Woodfired and the dough is hand made. My husband and I shared a large pizza and it was plenty big enough. Very generous with the topping. We were dining with our 11 month old and the guy spent most of the time entertaining him. He even put abc kids on the tv and turned it around so our son could watch it and he made him a handful of chips to eat while we had our pizza which we didn't ask for so that was very thoughtful. Would definitely go back here.
