Bidra med feedbackWe booked to have the Autumn Afternoon Tea as a treat and it was exceptionally good. We loved the character of The Sack Store, and the first floor café is so cosy and relaxing. We were booked in as 24 hours notice is required for afternoon tea. We were offered a choice of tables as we went mid afternoon, so missed the lunchtime rush. The quality and variety of the food was impressive, with a selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, and savoury scones. Then there were the cakes and pastries, and a gorgeous lemon syllabub. Tea and coffee were unlimited. The flavours were amazing, as was the presentation and attention to detail. The staff were lovely, and very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, and will certainly return. Very highly recommended.
We have chosen this restaurant as our preferred venue for Thursday morning management team meetings. The private pseudo-sideroom gives us a sense of seclusion. The food and drinks are of good quality. Andy always greets us warmly and provides excellent and attentive service.
If you're looking for delicious food that is beautifully presented, cooked to order, and made with high-quality ingredients, then you must visit this restaurant. The staff is polite and attentive, with smiles all around, and the seating areas are clean and very comfortable. The parking is convenient, and the location is easy to find. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for breakfast, mid-morning coffee chats, or a delightful lunch.
After a long journey we went for lunch, on our arrival there was no acknowledgement from the waiter who subsequently spoke to us, he walked past us twice without speaking once and just left us standing. When he did speak to us he was surly, he made us feel as if we were an inconvenience. He asked if we had booked, his response when I responded that we didn 't realise we had to. His sarcastic reply was Well we are popular . He took us straight to a table, there were plenty of free ones, only a couple showed a reserved sign. The waiter taking orders could only take one every 10 minutes. Eventually after 20 minutes of waiting without our order having been taken, we had enough of the lack of service and left. At that time there were 4 tables still waiting to have their order taken. The staff were so lethargic I believe they didn 't even see us leave. I will not return again. We were going to spend some money in the shop, but because of the bad service we came away. I would have complained at the time, but as the person who seated us appeared to be in charge I saw little point.
Visited the store today, disappointed yet again. Wanted to have a drink and something to eat but no tables downstairs where we had to sit because we had a dog. The guy that greeted me upstairs said they were reserved which I accepted. Only one reserved sign on one table that we could see and nobody sat downstairs at all. Have to say this is the fourth time we have been and not had good service and food/drinks have not been brilliant but wanted to try again. Pre-pandemic staff who ran café before were wonderful not be recommending the store to my friends anymore.
