Bidra med feedbackUpdate- it appeared that Taka is no longer at its location on the waterfront. Temporarily closed? Another restaurant is in its place as of when we visited on June 12th. Unless Taka is relocating, it appears to be gone forever. Based on my negative experience, good riddance!
My husband and I had tried on Wednesday night to eat at Taka but sadly they were closed. We had one more dinner opportunity. So glad we came! We initiated the patio heaters and dined on their water overlook deck. Beautiful night! I had the crab cake appetizer and a house salad as my dinner. So good! The sauce was spectacular...kind of spicy but not too. That and the salad...with Greek vinaigrette...were more than enough for a dinner appetite. The wines were good and our great sever Chelsea even engineered a simple dish of vanilla ice cream for a perfect finish! Be sure and give this restaurant a try the next time you visit Boothbay Harbor!
Went to Taka tonight. Waited FOREVER for any service. People were nice and overly apologetic. Had haddock sandwich and gyro plate. Haddock was the size of two silver dollars. And just as thick. More bread than fish. Chicken Gyro plate was weird, but tasted good. Not worth half the price charged. Recommend they close up if they can't deliver better service and quality.
Where 's our meals, we thought after waiting a half hour for our food. So our lobster pasta came out. The menu description was enticing indeed- Fresh Maine lobster, mussels, shrimp, spaghetti, roasted corn, tomato, saffron sauce . We ordered each Greek salads, which were not on the menu, which in itself was odd. The salads never came, instead, two small plates of lobster pasta came out and the waitperson apologized that the salads did not come out first. Having to listen to the so-called live entertainment and his grating falsetto didn 't help matters. So how was that lobster pasta? In a word, disastrous. The saffron broth was non-existent, thus the dish had no flavor at all. And the lobster? Little pieces that would not even be enough to occupy a lobster roll, let alone this very pricey dish. To add insult to injury, the mussels were grossly undercooked, the excuse for that was the kitchen was busy. Yet less than half the tables were occupied. So we had a blueberry pie a la mode- it tased Okay but the crust was gummy. And the glasses of wine featured stingy pours in small glasses. The price for this grossly underwhelming meal was what we would pay in a real fine dining establishment. I do not recommend this restaurant. I would not wish this awful dining experience on anyone.
Had a late lunch here. It is right on the water. The view is great. The food was fresh and plentiful. The hummus and baba ghanoush were expertly prepared. All the food was good. It had most of the typical Mediterranean foods. It was a nice change from lobster for a meal.
