Slater's - Bolton

A country kitchen cafe in a town of country kitchen cafes... Fair enough bbq takeout, Gifford's ice cream and hyper local patrons... The whole place seems underutilized but is still an OK place to stop in after hitting up an orchard...

Good local nursery for plants. Good help, too. They have Gifford's Ice Cream! Yay! Oddly, they serve food at this plant nursery. Sandwiches, breakfasts, and BBQ in the evenings. I've got to say, the breakfasts are a bit spotty. Sometimes good, sometimes, not.

Now called slaters, their most awaited wood oven is in... and out for me... a let down. By the time the pizza got home, it felt like old pizza. I agree with Ran D on their bbq, cleanliness and what used to be their breakfast... DUDE (as my son would say) it wasn 't broke, why try to fix it? Pizza needs more work... I really REALLY wanted to love it...

I been here for lunch and takeouts. The pulled pork is excellent. So is the smoked Chicken. The quantity is great and ambiance took me by surprise. I was expecting a little take out place but had seating both indoor and outdoor. I will definitely go there again.

Was told that they used to sell a lot more plants and outdoor furniture inside the store. Now all that is cleared out and turned into a cafe. There is also seating outdoors. Ordered a tall stack of blueberry pancakes. They were fluffy, but could be sweeter and cooked a little longer. I was pleasantly surprised by the slice of pineapple served on the side. The staff was very friendly...will be back to try other foods.
