Bidra med feedbackWell, I was here twice, I can say the food is really good, and if you're looking for beautiful Chicha-Morada, here's the place. However, prices are very high and the service is very regular. At both visits we came to the restaurant, took a table and even though the waiters noticed that we were there, they were like us to ignore; we had to wait a few minutes until they give us the menu. Sometimes the food takes a lot of time to be prepared (is normal in restaurants), but a lot of time to give you glasses, drinks or even the bill... That's very slow! For example, once we asked for a glass of Chicha morada, the glass was quickly served, but the waitress did not bring us glasses. We asked for glasses and she took 15 minutes to get us glasses! It's very stupid to have a drink before you and not to drink it, isn't it? Only here it happens. Very regular service, is a shame compared to the good food is served here.
The food is authentic and wonderfull. Service is good but the place is cold, so wear warm clothing. Prices are appropriate and rather on the cheap side.
Although the prices of this restaurant match those of the finest restaurants in Bogota, it's food and service are terrible. When we arrived for our reservation the restaurant was closed and we had to wait 20 minutes for some employees to arrive to open. We ordered seafood rice and the seafood was a horrible quality and I ended up leaving about half the seafood on my plate (I'm not even sure what seafood it included. The juice was also really bad and was made with a milk powder rather than real milk. Most dishes were over $30,000. I would not return to this restaurant if you paid me.
Resting – what do I say? – sleeping on its laurels… First impression: an unpleasant fish smell in the lobby of the restaurant, which doesn´t bode that well for a place putting forward its ceviches… Very few customers for a Friday night in an old-fashioned and slightly boring room. Well, that would not have been a problem for us if the food has been up to our (reasonable expectations. Alas! The ceviche was at the very best average (absolutely not spicy, not lemony either, actually hardly any taste at all… , with a serious suspicion regarding the freshness of the fish. The lomo saltado? Ordinary as well, its only originality being a few points of green rot on the tomatoes, a particularity that didn´t seem to excessively concern the waiter when alerted over this issue… Not to mention the service, with a condescending waiter not exactly ready to improve our dining experience and to the limit of incorrectness with my wife… All in all, a great disappointment, as this is supposedly the oldest ambassador of Peruvian gastronomy in Bogotá. Anecdotally, we had all but forgotten this “adventure” (our visit to Mi peru is a few months old , until tonight: dining in a famous Ribs place in the Zona G of Bogotá, we happened to sit next to the table of the owner of Mi Peru (not sure how often he actually is in his kitchen but tonight he apparently preferred somebody else’s food… . His shockingly unrespectful and obnoxious behavior with the staff of the restaurant reminded us of the necessity to write a review about this terrible experience.
Given the decadence of the trendy Peruvian competition, this is probably the most authentic home style Peruvian cooking in Bogotá. A quirky restaurant that looks like a shed bolted onto the front of a house in a completely nondescript but accessible part of Bogotá. Chicha morada and Peruvian beers available. Amazingly enthusiastic waiting staff that seem genuinely passionate about food, everything seems to be an orgía de sabores with hand gestures. Completely recommend it for great value no frills dining, cards are accepted but you should take cash. The address is actually wrong in the listing, it is Calle 59 No 17 32. Not recommended to walk back to Av Caracas between Calles 59 and 63 after dining, it is not an expensive place so treat yourself to a taxi.
