Everyone serves wings these days, no matter where you go. Grilled, fried, broiled, whatever. For the last 20 years or so, the location now named Boca Wings and Ribs—it has had several name changes over the years—still makes the best wings, period. Through all the name changes and one thankfully short-lived attempt to serve a larger grade of wings, this stalwart of chicken wing cuisine has maintained its place at the top. If you like wings the way they were meant to be, this is the place for you. I confess, I am a burger guy, but I can’t comment on their burgers. I love good ribs. I have no idea if their ribs are good or great or what. Sometimes people I go with get a salad, and they sure look good if you are in the mood for a “big salad.” I have no idea. The sandwiches look great. I don’t know. What I do know is that I would not order wings anywhere else unless forced to do so, and, even stranger, I get my wings “dry” or “plain” with the sauce on the side. I like the TASTE of their wings, and I want to control the heat and “wetness” myself. To me, that says it all. If the basic product is excellent, it should stand on its own without anything else. The fun at BW&R is that the sauces are perfect. I get a medium and a hot on the side 1.00 extra unless my waitress is in a really good mood… . I mix and match as I devour the platter and dip the curly fries in them, too, of course. The blue cheese is also the best, and if I have one complaint it is that you don’t get enough celery with your order. You can, of course, order more, but I HATE to leave any of that blue cheese wonder of a dressing, so I typically order more celery just so I can leave an empty container of dressing. Now, they have a wide selection, as the movie line goes, and I am certain that all the other offerings are just fine. But if you want wings, and you want the real deal cooked properly, with the best flavor and best traditional sauces, you will head over to BW&R and order a large 16 pieces plain with extra celery, and with medium and hot on the side, a cold one, and kick back to enjoy the best wings you can buy. By the way, I never heard of the corn poppers, so don’t blame me if you can’t stop eating them, also. I don’t know how they make them, but my vegetarian daughter eats TWO baskets of them every time we go—OK, maybe I help her out a bit by sneaking 4 or 5 of them when she isn’t looking—but like the wings, they are so good they should be a sin. Enjoy!
Sevice is less horrible than the food.
