Nice art deco Hotel from the 30's excellent hosts and nice warm rooms ..bonus bath! definatly the best place to stay in Bluff Oh and its HAUNTED :

I am checking out of this hotel today after a wonderful stay. This hotel is in a wonderful location within walking distance from the ferry to Stewart Island . The rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable and the public space is beautiful and cozy. The highlight for me is the wonderful couple who own and manage the hotel. I have travelled all over the world and never met nicer folks who ensure a wonderful stay! Safety: Very safe and secure! Walkability: Very easy walk to bars and restaurants and a small local grocer! Would highly recommend the Foveaux Hotel for a relaxing stay in a charming Art Deco environment. Rooms: Comfortable and clean room with balcony access to enjoy view over harbour area. Nearby activities: Close to supermarket and interesting walks. On Mike's advice had excellent sea food dinner at nearby restaurant with cheerful friendly service (highly recommend the cod! Within easy walking distance of Ferry Terminal, a real bonus. Safety: Appreciated the availability of secure off-street parking covered by CCTV during visit to Stewart Island. Additional safe, inside storage was made available for E-bike and suitcases while away on the Island. Food drinks: Complimentary tea and coffee readily available in kitchen and cozy lounge area. Enjoyed the continental breakfast, shared with other guests around large kitchen table, comparing notes on travels and plans (especially the shark diving! Noteworthy details: A real highlight was meeting our hosts, the always affable, friendly and helpful Mike and Pam. They had a genuine interest in the welfare of their guests.
