The Parkville Restaurant Bar - Blantyre

So busy so sometimes something has to go wrong. Service friendly, eager to please. Atmosphere was just too busy, felt that there was no ambience, just so many folk packed in... Food (of 2 out of 3 meals served). 3x starters were good and the presentation of the mains also looked good but the steak was cold..... It put my husband/friend off theirs while I was waiting for a fresh steak to be cooked and in the end I took most of it home for my cat. Value was good but still £98 approx as my steak was removed. Had booked online and asked for Prosecco which was served perfectly apart from server being unable to get bottle open initially (got someone else to do it). Also asked for small cake (husband's birthday/retirement dinner) to be provided but had no communication as to whether this was possible or not beforehand so assumed that this would be provided, when I queried this on the night we were given the dessert menu... You could have let me know this before we arrived on the night. On the whole it was an experience that I would not like to repeat but I will give them another opportunity and possibly go for lunch but not for steak. Note: the management did try to contact me the next day by telephone but as I am a carer in the community I did not answer their calls and this was the end of any communication from them even though they have my e-mail address before I put this post up.

Food was great as usual but was a bit miffed when the bill came as we didn’t get the two for one. We asked the waitress if it wasn’t on because of the bank holiday and she said no we always do it on a bank holiday only Easter it’s not on. She said she’ll check with other waitress who came over and said she was only told it wasn’t in when she came in to start her shift. She said there’s usually notices up but aren’t this time. I said I thought you should have told us when we ordered as we all ordered from the two for one. Never happened to us before on a bank holiday monday UPDATE.. thank you Gemma for your reply. Indeed it does state on the email. My mistake. Staff should’ve known this too. As I said.. food was fab as usual. Thanks for clarifying.

Fantastic food and atmosphere at a very reasonable price. The chicken starter was brilliant. We had the steak pie and full hog burger. Both were delicious. Only reason not 5* is because they lost our drinks order which meant we didn’t get a drink until after our starters had arrived. Apart from that it was a great meal and we will definitely be back!

The table next to the door is not the best. We had to keep getting up and closing the door so that we weren't freezing. Perhaps this should be a waiting area rather than a table. Lentil soup tasted burnt and had a severe lack of lentils, this info passed to manager who said he'd go and taste but didn't come back to us. We were told the rhubarb crumble wasn't rhubarb but it was apple. As crumble doesn't appear on the menu (cobbler) we asked to double check it was apple crumble. After being reassured it was, two of our table ordered it. When it arrived it was, in fact, rhubarb! Not a major issue but not good communication from staff. Ordered coffee which was forgotten about. We were rushed to order but when it came to paying the bill, there was no staff in sight. The delay with the coffee meant we had sat longer that we had intended, someone then comes and puts the bill on the table and tells us they need the table. Had staff been more visible then we would have been able to ask for it ourselves. The restaurant is beautiful but there are a few things that need to be ironed out. The staff were very friendly but, within 10mins of arrival we had been approached by four different members of staff. They should communicate with each other so that customers don't feel rushed.

We went for the lunchtime menu. The cheeseburger had 2 burgers, the salad was nice and fresh and it was real cheese not a cheese slice. It was probably one of the best burgers I've had. The Penne Carbonara was 10/10. Great value for money. I would recommend this place to everyone. We will be back.....
