Bidra med feedbackGreat location next to the beach. Wooden benches and tables in beach shack location. Very rustic outside. Good simple food and inexpensive wine although only bottled beer lager at 4 Euros a glass. Meat cooked on an open fire. Help yourself to bread! Late afternoon visit so the place was virtually empty and initially thought we were too late but they managed to accommodate us for eating. Stumbled on the place the day before around 12:30 and the place was heaving. Very large portion of mussels and corresponding sized plate of chips washed down with a bottle of pink. Afterwards, sat on one the outside benches overlooking the beach in the sun, very relaxing and quite unique. Apparently one of the best 10 beach bars according to the Guardian! CASH ONLY.
Good food and service from nice staff. Practically on the beach with a view to Jersey (or Hjörsey as we say in Icelandic) just a few kilometers away
We are oyster lovers and after doing some research on places to eat we drove to Blainville sur mer after visiting the Dior Musee. Two restaurants are located side by side right on the sea and they couldn 't be more different we initially went into the fancier one and were rudely told by the host that without a reservation no table. We walked next door to what looked very rustic asked if there was a table and proceed to sit at one of the communal tables. Not speaking French and used to a situation where waitstaff brings a menu we sat waiting fortunately a women who spoke English and was eating with her father was sharing our table and asked if we had been there we said no. She said this is a crazy place you get a menu from the bar and an order form, fill it out take it to the bar and they give you a number and bring out your food. Fortunately she looked out for us so when the food was brought out she could point them in the right direction. We had oysters so fresh that you could taste the ocean I had mussels and frites a huge pot in the most amazing cream sauce. He had the leg of lamb that was cooked over a huge stone fireplace in the center of the restaurant. The place was busy with families and couples it was a wonderful experience and I am grateful to the French women that took pity on us because it could have been just the opposite experience although once we realized what was going on we did find a few english speaking (very friendly) waitstaff. Very funky decor communal tables, nude artwork on the walls, some tables outside in the sand, Cash only!
An unique experience. Great location on sand dunes next to beach. Meat cooked on an open fire. Seafood was good. Wooden benches and tables in beach shack location. Great atmosphere with people visiting from around France and around the world. Get there early as gets very busy and only opens on a weekend
After a year of enforced isolation, we were back at La Cale for lunch this last week August 25 2021. It hasn't changed a bit, and it was full of cheerful French holday makers scoffing moules.
