Bidra med feedbackFantastic place right on the beach. No frills just good food, great coffee and friendly genuine staff - burgers are the best on the northern beaches
Bumbalino's is an open air cafe nestled beside Bilgola Beach on Sydney's northern shore. Off the beaten rack a little, you will probably only find yourself there if you are staying in the area, like a walk or are renting a car.Best coffee we tasted the entire we stayed in Avalon (and it had stiff competition from The Sneaky Grind) and Anthony, the cafe's chef made my breakfast scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast look and taste like something a michelin starred restaurant would be proud of. The staff are invariably cheerful - even at 6am, no mean feat. Highly recommedn this cafe, the beach and the walk along it's south point over the cliff head to Newport Beach, one bay down.As a sydneysider going home after a two decade absence, I was thrilled to discover Bumbalino's and cant wait to head back there the next time I nip back across the planet!
Hidden Gem IndeedI walked from Newport Beach across the headland to Bilgola Beach and accidentally stumbled upon this cafe. A welcome oasis! Had the beef burger. It was $14.00 I think. It was MASSIVE. Could have fed two people quite easily. Really tasty too. I would actually have preferred a smaller burger served with salad and hot chips. But they do not have those. Still it was good value. Had it for lunch and despite walking back to Newport, I was still waddling full at dinner time. Went back the next day and had a toasted chicken wrap. It was nice. Although really needed some relish or chutney with it. Coffee was really good too. Could have done without hearing chefs and service people using the F word in their loud conversation whilst I was dining there. But that is a small quibble. Was not overly busy and some tables had not been cleared and still had remains on them. So a bit slack there. But again a small quibble in the scheme of things. Lovely location. Can sit in the cafe and look out over the beach. Cash Only. And you will need to pay for parking in carpark. I parked for free on back streets of Newport and walked to Bilgola on the coastal track. It took about about 20 minutes each way. Pretty quite during the week in cooler months. Could image how busy it gets on the weekends in summer. I will go back then and see.
Bilgola Beach and Kiosk are hidden gems in our community. Great coffee, breakfast, bruch or lunch; Friendly service in a great location right on the beach. Go for a swim or surf . There is a ocean pool on the beach. They also support dogs in cafes so have a water of water for the canine friends. At peak times parking can be an issue eg Sunday mornings with nippers in summer.
I get up this way quite often and love itIt is located right on Bilgola beach with a beautiful view over the water.
